I love how these threads tell us more about the fetishistic leanings of members than anything else. Evidently, those opposed to Carrie in a bikini have never downloaded anything labelled "Mature Porn." Now, back to the topic at hand.

Perhaps Luke will only exist as a hologram or other recorded message. Perhaps 7, 8, and 9 will be some elaborate "Search for Skywalker" story arc. Perhaps anything. I am just glad that Mark isn't wagging his tail like a dog and that he is actually interested in evaluating the script. Which tells me he wants to do it but needs to see a script and not just a treatment or idea.

And the whole age thing is pointless. Hollywood rarely casts an actor of specific age for a character of specific age. This is called "acting." If Mark can pull it off, then so be it. He seems honest enough about his own abilities. Don't worry, everyone. We're not going to get the William Shatner effect. Remember, The Shat looked old but fairly healthy in Wrath of Kahn. By The Voyage Home, he resembled one of the whales he was saving - that's someone not caring about how they come across in a film, only that they're in it.

I'm pretty sure he and the other(s) would be involved in some capacity (no matter how limited) just to bridge the films. Then, they can retire to the Mos Eisley Bar and Grill for the rest of their lives.

I don't know how far along the NJO will be or if there will be a council but Luke will most definitley be Grand Master.

Apparently the force ghosts of Yoda and Obi-Wan or Anakin depending upon who you ask. :p

It never ceases to amaze me that even in a SW forum filled with fanbois people will find things to complain even about the OT.

I'm sure poeple that whine about Mark being old and fat look the same they did when they were 19, 30 or more years later. I bet they don't have gray hair or receding hairline and they have six pack abs and can do flips and somersaults.

At any rate, I hope that Luke plays the role of Obiwan/yoda (OT) as the teacher or mentor, maybe sneaking around or showing the younger protagonists how it's done. Then die a dignified death like Obiwan or Yoda. Then still helping when all hope is lost from beyond as force ghost, voice or even full body comeback e.g. Gandalf the white

well if it was the EU it would be hard to tell i think Corran Horn or Kyp Durron would have one of them.

    Ugh... Kyp Durron... *sighs*

Well if they're going to run rough shod over the EU, I'd rather see Mara Jade alive in one of those seats (probably the right hand). Corran makes sense for one of them, but stick Kyp on the opposite seat from Luke in the circle since I always figured he's not really that liked, and more of a 'loyal opposition' type person.

Sorry, going on a rampage and killing several billion people by blowing up stars kind of makes him someone I have trouble seeing as 'good' maybe an antihero but never really a 'good' jedi.

I'm also sure they'll be considered for a major role in the new Star Wars movie.

Anakin Skywalker would like to have a chat with you. In all seriousness though I can understand your dislike. Though that situation was over rather extenuating circumstance. Being possessed by an evil sith can do that.

All this Mark Hamill may not be in EP7 is hysterical.I mean he's doing a movie called Sushigirl,it looks incredibly bad and cheap, plus he has only had one major feature in the last 20 years and that was Jay&Bob Strike Back.So not only does everyone want him in it but it would be heartbreaking to everyone and career suicide if he didn't.

uh. i want him,Carrie,Harrison. But nobody talks about Peter or Antony or even Kenny. What a shame!

It all depends on the script. Alec Guiness was in his 60's when he filmed the first movie. Nobody complained about him and thought he was cool as hell because he faced Vader and was wise and all that stuff. Luke and the rest of the gang will probably fulfill the role of master to apprentices...

IF Luke Skywalker is in the sequels AND if he is roughly (!) the same age as Hamill, it has to be Mark. One reason his on-screen career faltered after a long and successful TV run is because he was typecast as Luke, unlike Harrison who managed to break out of his role. No, Mark isn't "the" best actor of his generation, but his role in that war movie I forget the name of and the title role in Broadway's The Elephant Man has proven he does have acting chops.

And movie makeup can cover a lot of "sins" for those who are worried about how he looks.

Other than losing a few pounds I'm sure he'll look great. He's not even as white as Guiness was even though they'd be roughly the same age.

yes. i agree, according to wookieepedia, after Kyp was free of Exar Kun's influence had been banished, "Durron begin a long quest for absolution which led him to become Skywalker’s most talented pupil and one of the first Jedi Masters of the New Jedi Order."

so it looks like he wanted to atone for his actions.

Mark Hamill was great in SW, and has kept busy with other acting projects over the years, if you know where to look. In films, I liked his role as the American soldier in The Big Red One, a great WW II film; and, also enjoyed his role in the John Carpenter horror flick from the '90's, VIillage of the Da**ed (a remake of an older horror film).

In TV, he was very good as the old man comic/toy collector in the Amazing Stories episode "Gather ye Acorns" back in the '80's; and, he was also great in an episode of the '90's Outer Limits, "Mind over Matter", as a scientist who falls in love with a virtual woman (IIRC). And, of course, he was excellent as the voice of the Joker in the '90's Batman Animated Series cartoon.

Re: his potential appearance in the ST, I don't want to see this, but not because I think he looks too old for the films or because I think he can't handle the role. I just truly think Han, Luke, Leia, Lando, etc. have already had their stories told in the OT & don't need to appear in any other films. IMHO, the ending of ROTJ was the perfect finale (in film) for these characters.

That being said, I do enjoy the post-ROTJ adventures of the characters in the EU.

Hamill has to be in it - if you notice however when Ep. 7 was first announced the actors where like "of course I'd do it!", now they've had chance to think it over they've realised how needed they are, do they're playing it coy to get more money out the bargain.

Lucasfilm would be making a mistake to re-cast them. My god I can hear the outcry already! It would be the unholy cluster**** of ewoks, jar-jar and new actors for for classic characters. I agree with most on this thread: use the old actors or bring new characters.

The question isn't so much if they will re cast them, more about what's Luke role and story arc in the ST and if Luke will play a part at all.
It could be that Luke is killed in the opening crawl and his role is just voice and force ghost support for a new Skywalker. We just don't have any information.

While thats possible, I think their new found "hesitancy" is based on everyone's fear to reveal anything without Disney / LucasFilm approval.

I disagree. I think we know what Luke's role is as GL told him years ago it would be as an Obi-Wan mentor passing on what he has learned. It has been reported many times and I don't think there's any reason to believe that idea's been scrapped.

Yeah, now that its "game time" no more talking about the playbook. (NDA)
