1358 meteorites!! Wow!
(And one from Mars! Did life come from there or go there from here???)

There must have been some pretty explosions going on in primordial times

Actually the current theory does support that life began very soon after the creation of the Earth. Some 3.9 billion years ago or so. In fact the amount of impacts that were occuring due to meteorite activity at this time during the creation of the solar system. Combined with how early life took hold on this planet and that bacteria can survive in the vacuum of space as discovered during the moon missions does suggest that life could have travelled between the planets, or at least the inner most planets. That being Venus, Earth and Mars.

Of course this is just a theory, Venus's atmosphere has in all likely hood vaporised any evidence to this due to it's extreme pressure and heat. However Mars could hold the eveidence that we need to dicipher this little puzzle.
