Can you give us some more information? I actually have no idea what you're talking about.

 

It's a major comic arc in the Marvel comics, that, like the title suggests, will have a major civil war between the characters. They've been setting it up for a little while now, with the Other (Spiderman) and a couple other random ones.

 

Mark Millar writing it is about the only thing about it that interests me. I may pick up the core arc, but I'm skipping everything else.

Which characters?

 

Pretty much all of them. Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four...

 

Cant wait for this to come out. Looks pretty cool from what Ive seen so far.

 

All that matters is where the Punisher winds up, that'll be the winning side.


Heck, I don't even know if Garth Ennis has killed Frank Castle off by now, or just ruined the character to the point where no one wants him to appear.

 

Are you insane? Ennis writing the MAX Punisher line has been the best thing to happen to Castle in a long time. "The Slavers" was brilliantly brutal.

As for Civil War, Doom is coming back and so is Thor. And like I said if Captain America is for the registration act I am killing Quesada and burning down most of Marvel.

We don't really have much on it still but the few (one) Civil War tie in that I leafed through seemed to indicate that Tony was against so wouldn't that make Cap for

This is going to affect my buying of "Amazing Spiderman" isn't it? I only like to buy the Strazcynski comics.

 

But that goes against everything Captain America is.

He's Marvels Superman. He's not a person, he's an ideal personified. He is the promise of what America should be. More then that he is everything humanity should try to reach for.

There was an arc where he wonders if his government let him become frozen because he would have never let the Atomic bomb be released. This is a man who under no circumstances would allow for a registration act to go through.

 

"Doctors have to register with the AMA, Pilots with the FAA, etc incase something goes horibly wrong, why not heroes."

Thats JMS's argument for the act. Cap may see it the same way.

I know what you are saying he represents the ideals of America and doesn't just tow the party line of whoever is in charge. I guess we have to see how its presented.

At the same time maybe that isn't the way the lines break down. Cap could be on the other side. Look at the covers and Cap is always presented with Wolvie who definatly doesn't seem like a character thats going to support a SH registration.

 

We know that Iron Man and Spiderman are allied here. I also suspect that Wolverine will be against them.

 

If you look at the cover you see the Human Torch on the side of Capt. America. This is interesting since the FF have always revelaed their true identities.

 

Problem is that even the covers are contidictory.

Johnny is on the other side on Turner's cover and so is Spidey. On issue #2 cover Spidey is split right down the middle.

At the same time it sets up a pretty good argument for the how and why he'd be on that side.
