Stardust is a great movie, if not solely for the sight of De Niro in drag dancing to the Cancan.

Yeah, but that's cheating. Robert De Niro is always awesome ^:)^

I read it. It's literally just them reporting the same speculation based on that interview from yesterday.

Yeah but.... why oh why didn't he cast Stephen Fry?? That role just screams Stephen Fry.

But Fry is known to be Gay and eccentric, this works better because De Niro is famed as a tough guy and it's such a big change to what he has done previously. It showcases his acting range much more than doing the same roles over & over was doing for him.

Well yeah, Fry would just be playing another version of himself (which he's done before in movies, for instance in "V For Vendetta"), but the role just seems to be written for him. But you have a good point about it being a bigger change from the tough guy.

I'd much prefer Vaughn over Favreau. I would be thrilled about a Fincher Star Wars as well, but I say hold off until Episode VIII or IX for someone of his pedigree.

Ahhh. Good man. Lawrence as Solo offspring me thinks. Always in motion the future is.

Nothing wrong with Stardust. My daughter and I have watched it many times, its a good flick. Not everything has to be high art. Star Wars certainly isn't.

Matthew Vaughn is plenty qualified. A good choice. If he gets the job I will have no worries with that. That's all I have to say on this subject until the floor falls out of this rumor! [face_monkey]

I would prefer these two directors over Jon Favreau.

Man, I think Favreau is getting a bum rap. LOL Iron Man was great. Remember, he doesn't write the scripts.

Favreau would be a fine choice. He's probably the safest bet out of these three.

He gets my vote for Lock, Stock and 2 smoking Barrels alone. Best ever British film. Anyone who hasn't seen it, needs to.

Cowboys and Asliens wasn't awful. It was entertaining. Iron Man 2 = entertaining.

Matt Vaughn has Kick Ass which is really good but not great. X-Men = same as Kick Ass and I haven't seen his other films yet.

David Fincher has a slew of great movies = Se7en, Fight Club and The Game are all great.

    Joe Johnston has Captain America.

The guy that syticks out as the most accomplished in my mind is Fincher hands down.

Coyboys & Aliens is OK, but like the PT it's a lot of fancy stuff and not much substance. Iron Man 2 was entertaining yes but not as good as the first one overall (even though I prefer whiplash to Iron Monger).

I would be angry if any of the ST movies turned out like either of those movies.

It's Fincher's job if he wants it IMO. He's already worked with Kennedy and is an awesome director that would lend instant credibility to the movie and send the geek world into a joyous frenzy.
