Speculation Matthew Vaughn Directing...unofficially confirmed.

Well, when I googled Vaughn's name, there are articles all over the net speculating this very thing, so I don't know, we should know soon.

 

There are also internet article rumors from earlier this month (before that video) that Vaughn was in talks to do Star Wars and had dropped off X-men for that very purpose.

I bet if that guy accidentally broke the news prematurely, they get mad and don't hire him to act in SW.

 

Either way, it's exciting speculation, which is why we're here.

I just wish LFL would hurry up and announce things already.

 

December 3 should hopefully present more news.

I have a feeling at this point it is going to be hard to wait until then, they are going to get showered with questions; the media is going into a frenzy on this...

 

Maybe with the next SW.com update we'll learn Kathy's favorite entry in the SW saga to date, and how wheels behind the scenes are continuing to turn.

Well they're being very patient about the Kasdan/Kinsberg story.

 

I'll be OK with this if it's Vaughn. I like all the movies he's made I have seen.

 

I think we pretty much know that is true though, right? You mean that LF is not confirming it, right?

In any case, I think this is bigger than that.

 

Perhaps you are right, but any movie buff with half a knowledge will already know her as producer on just about every cool film over the past 30 years in Amblin Entertainment. Normal people either wouldn't care or would just learn such things from magazines.

Only SW geeks will be looking on the site. So give us something juicy.

That story doesn't make sense to me - it claims they are producers on the second and third too.

Why would they be only producing two out of the three?

Why wouldn't Arndt be getting a crack at all three?

If the story were confirmed tomorrow, it wouldn't make your questions any more or less relevant, but it's not compelling proof of the validity of trade industry sources.

 

all the videos look like they were shot at the same time on the SW site, so if the next one is the same desk etc and the name a name, then the deal was done over a month ago.

 

Don't think it's Vaughn. He's never worked with Kennedy, which is something she implied was a pre-req in one of the videos for EVII director. Besides, isn't he working on Secret Service?

Just to throw in my two cents, I'll tell you exactly what I saw in this video...

INTERVIEWER: Have you chatted to Matthew at all about any Star Wars potential? 'Cause that could be three films for you.

FLEMYNG: (walks around like C3PO while whistling like R2D2) Me and Matt have done nine films together so I'm sure I'll get the call for Star Wars, but I'm sure it's gonna be literally "Flemyng, no, Flemyng... I know on paper it doesn't look like much, but I promise you it's essential to the path", so we'll see what happens with that.

INTERVIEWER: Is Matthew interested then, you think?

FLEMYNG: In what, Star Wars? (face indicating surprise at the obviousness of the question) I think that's... (stops dead in his tracks and grimaces for a long beat indicating the realization of having made a big mistake, then speaks slowly with a wide-eyed exaggerated look of cautious acknowledgement...) Uh yeah he's interested yeah... about the deal.

That's my interpretation anyway, but it appeared pretty obvious to me. I'd say Vaughn is probably a lock at this point.
