ST Max von Sydow in Episode VII

Maybe Max is playing the Inquisitor? Post ROTJ he took Sidious's place.

 

Hmmm. I didn't know who James earl jones OR Max Von Sydow was until I saw Conan the Barbarian with Schwarzenegger! Weird how both of them are going to be in a Star Wars film, now.

 

Schwarzenegger plays Darth Freeze and the circle is now complete.

So I was thinking about how I've heard there will be tie ins with the series Rebels and EVII and realized the character Kanan would be in about his seventies or eighties by EVII. This may have already been mentioned but I thought I'd throw that out there as a possibility.

That character could end up in all sorts of places and positions by then and could have gone bad or good. He is also force sensitive - I believe he's an ex-Jedi in Rebels too. That could make things very interesting...

 

If von Sydow is playing any character from Rebels I think it'll be The Inquisitor (doubt it tho) Kanan is probably dead by the time of VII.

 

I find it interesting that in all these rumours that have done the rounds MVS's name has yet to be mentioned. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Max von Sydow will play a high-ranking crew member on Han Solo's Super Star Destroyer... You heard it hear first.

 

I think he will be the Leia's (alliance/new republic) political opponent in the systems where the Empire still exists. They negotiate when they must, but don't much care for each other.

Perhaps they are both competing to draw independent systems to join their ranks respectively.

 

Most likely is playing a Sate Pestage or Jorus C'baoth-like role, he normally plays a type casted villain or old king or priest and some sorta father-figure.

 

Kanan appears to be late twenties/early thirties to me so wouldn't that put him in his 70s or 80s by EVII which is how old MVS looks to me. I'm just saying it's a possibility.

He could be playing Sate Pestage himself, Emperor of the Imperial Remnant.

 

If the rumour is true and Dame Judi Dench really is playing Mon Mothma, perhaps Max Von Sydow is playing her husband, "Mister Mothma."

I did find it slightly odd that Max wasn't present in the official casting meet photo we got many moons ago. Ok, he may have been busy? But almost everyone else was there (barring Isaacs offcourse) I mean, Serkis has implied he only has a cameo. Well then why have him there and why bother announcing he's in it? I'm beginning to think that MVS will be voicing a CGI character played by Andy.

 

yeah but they said Original Story for episode 7 and i just dont think they expect that adults are going to watch a cartoon to catch up to speed. If the character cant be fully explained on screen i dont think a cartoon is the way to explain it. So far that cartoon does not look like its written for adults.

 

If you read back through this thread you will find that this has been my perception and contention for some time. The character in question....?

I must apologise Immortiss I really only read through the first couple of pages to get a general gist of what's going on in a thread.

 

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does this.

 

You wouldn't have to watch the cartoon to know the character. It'd be referenced in passing like Obi-wan talking about Anakin and the Clone Wars. Watching "Rebels" just gives you an idea of what that person's life was all about.

 

No apologies necessary, I'm just happy with the thought that I'm not alone in my particular perceptions or views on the role of von Sydow and Serkis. Cheers!
