ST Max von Sydow in Episode VII

is that thing a person or object?

 

Max Von Sydow will either be playing Boba Fett or Anakin Skywalker.

 

Wild theory time:

Max is playing Obi Wan Kenobi's younger brother. Up until "Attack of the Clones," this title was held by Owen Lars.

Remember the EARLY rumors regarding Maisie Richardson-Sellers? A Kenobi descendant? Perhaps she's the granddaughter of Max's character and Rey's friend. The confusion may have originated with Max's likeness to Obi Wan. But that's what they were going for: Not Ben- but his brother.

To go out on a limb even further: when the line "No, Luke. I am your father" was originally being penned, one of the scratched lines was, "No, Luke. Obi Wan killed your father." This to me suggests the possibility that we may finally be seeing the incarnation of a dark side Kenobi. He may be positioning himself as Rey's mentor, but for the wrong reasons. When Rey finally meets Luke, there is a battle for her soul. Who will she believe?



Max may be the shrouded character with his back to us on the left. (Luke is the one with the half mask and CYBERNETIC RIGHT HAND).

Geez. Only Star Wars fans would hold each other to these kind of technicalities. I was using his name to avoid any confusion. Okay ya got me.

 

I know some will ridicule the latter, but I have an odd feeling that you might be right - somehow, Von Sydow will be Anakin.

 

I always have to smile when that scene comes up. for a time it was bothering me that seemingly nobody seemed to notice, now I only shake my head

I'm leaning towards Ric Olie. Just seems to mesh well, if he legitimately is a Prequel character. He did build rapport with Anakin, went into battle with him, etc. Also spent time with Padme.

 

I would be fine with him playing Force Ghost Anakin but wouldn't that mean Lucasfilms/Disney/Abrams are dissing the Special Edition OT that George Lucas set up?

 

It would dis on that and the original trilogy that George Lucas set up.

("dis", incidentally is the ticker symbol for Disney on the New York Stock Exchange.)

 

I just thought it would be kind of cool if Anakin didn't die; Luke just burned the armor and has been hiding him all this time (he would be in his early 70's, but with all his wounds and such he might appear much older). He could be on Tatooine looking after the next Skywalker (Rey Amidala Organa Skywlaker Solo Cougar Mellencamp) and have some cool part to play in the final drama. Just spitballing. I mean, Anakin IS a prequel character.

I'd like MVS to be some sort of scientist guy or maybe the inventor of some important gadget in the movie... Idk

It was the suit that kept Anakin alive, without it he dies. Plus with the degree of burns he suffered on Mustafar he'd never be able to withstand direct sunlight on Tatooine without the suit.

 

So where did the Anakin-ghost come from your little conspiracy theory?

 

Or he could. You know, if they wanted him to. It's a movie.

As for the ghost...who can say? Maybe he's powerless; maybe the ghost represented the death of his evil side and he lost his connection to the Force. Maybe he's just MOSTLY dead.

Sydows character is an agent who was placed on Tattooine by Skywalker. This characters past was that of an explorer and collector of rare relics. He almost lost his life to this life path and was saved by a Jedi. His body was mostly replaced with mechanics - which have doubled his life span. His knew body has left him feeling young within an android frame.

He was instructed by Skywalker to live on Tattooine - rich in hard find gems and curiositys. Here he was told to keep a friendly eye on a certain young lady - who also finds scavenging an interesting hobby.

She finds the glove and sabre, shares this find with Sydow who then secretly reports this back to Skywalker.
