May 16th after the Marathon

So as I'm sure you all know from my postings, my wife and I are coming from the states for the Saga. After the Saga ends it would be cool to get to meet some hardcore UK Star Wars fans. Would anyone be interested in gathering in a nearby pub after the movies and sharing a pint or two? If anyone is interested or has ideas on where to meet, please post in this thread. Cheers.

 

The only problem with that idea is Englands stupid licensing laws.

By the time we get out of the screen, all the pubs will be shut!

There are late night bars in the versinity, but I for one shall be wanting my bed come the end of ROTS.

Either that or I'll need to telephone everyone I know to tell them how much I loved ROTS.

 

Yeah its a "school night" for most people, and it's going to be tough making it to a pub before last orders at 11 if we're finishing at 22:40 or something?

But I recommend the Moon Under Water (actually I think it might have changed its name) which is just up Charing Cross Road, about 5 minutes walk. Its huge inside and fairly decent prices as well.

I'd like to say, that the old Moon Under Water is a dump, and will probably be full.

Sorry I used to drink there ALOT and its such a hole.

But regardless we'll never finish at 22.40. We'll more likely be done after 11.

 

There are two called Moon under water, one on leicester square and one up charing cross road, which is one of the biggest pubs in britain, no way it will be full on a monday night, even with all the SW shenannigans going on down the road. Thats where I would recommend anyway, didnt look like a dump last time I was there.

 

Or we could hire a boat for the night! Awwrite!

And the big on on Charring Cross road, does get full.

I've been there countless time where it was BARELY standing room only.

And if the center of town is as full as we all think it'll be, the pub will probably be rammed.

If we really want to drink late, Soho has pubs open later.

 

Pubs in the UK close at 11:00? Wow, didn't know that. That's pretty early.

 

I'd be up for a few pints. I don't have to catch a coach until later on - probably 3am, so I would have some time to kill -- Not to add, I'll need someone to keep me awake!!!

Where abouts in the States are you from?

 

See that's why I prefer living in Edinburgh than London.

Pubs till 1am. Cheaper prices. Nicer air to breathe.

So I am confused, do all pubs close at 11:00 or just stop serving at 11:00 in London? That is really early! Where my hubby and I live bars are open until 2:00 AM. There are bars in other areas of the states that are open even later.

What about restaurants? Do they still serve food late? We could always grab a bite to eat too.

 

11PM is when they close.

Last orders are at 10.50, no more drinks served after 11PM.

As a customer you have 20 minutes of drinking up time before you're kicked out.

BUT the management reserve the right to take you drinks before then.

Spot the ex-pub staff.

 

Wow, so no matter what night it is (weekday versus weekend) they close at 11:00? I suppose that helps reduce the crime rate though. That's a good thing.

 

In fact it rather tends to concentrate the crime to one particular time. Lots of political discussion about doing away with the time limits, if only to make 11:30-midnight less dangerous.
