ST May the 4th Announcement POLL

What do you think will happen?

 

My amusement at the state of unrest around here makes me sort of wish we don't get a single piece of news until about August 2015.

 

I'm predicting that this will be Lucasfilm come May the 4th

 

If I were all of you I'd invest in torch stock (Ticker symbol TCH) because if we don't get a cast announcement of some sort on the 4th fans are likely to storm the Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom.

I voted "Yes", but then again I'm a cockeyed optimist.

 

Given my pessimistic nature, I voted no.

 

People saying they 'have' to announce something on May 4th are the same ones that said that last year.

I've become so jaded and bored with the whole thing that I've given up on hearing anything official until they release the dang trailer.

 

I think there's a lot more logic in it this year, considering they are filming it in the same month.

(Adjunct: if they announce something May 2nd as a "lead in" to Star Wars day, I still say it counts.)

 

Add to that Disney's marketing tie ins this year for May the 4th with events at Disney Stores around the country, the unveiling of the Star Wars Character Breakfast and the new Yoda Chronicles episode debuting on Disney XD that day. Seems something is afoot, So I'm going with yes.

It's true. I'm starting to take a sort of sick pleasure from it.

 

We're going to have to get casting news soon... May 4th seems logical. If they wait longer than that its bound to get leaked when principle production starts so why would they let that happen?

 

Not sure, but I do get the feeling something is brewing. Certainly no later than the 4th - seems like too good an opportunity to pass up. But then we have been here before so who knows for certain?

 

If/when they get back to May release dates for the other movies, May the 4th is going to be HUGE! Will be a brilliant way of promoting a SW movie coming out a couple of weeks later. Maybe they'll have a big premiere on that date.

 

i voted "yes" just because i want it be true. then they'll say the big 3 are back and we basically know that already .

 

I decided to be super optimistic and say sooner, but either way I'd be surprised if it were actually on May 4th. My feelings tell me that any day which fans put that much hope and expectation into is bound to be a day when no major announcements are made.

Honestly, I don't think May 4th has any significance outside of online SW fan groups. It's on par with TGIF (Thank God It's Friday restaurants). As George Carlin once said, it was cute when someone first said it back in the 1930s, now it's just stupid. May the Fourth falls into this category, and I think it's the last thing on the minds of the creators of Episode VII. Also, we could still be technically months away from real, nitty gritty production filming. The shoot in Abu Dhabi that begins next month is said to last three weeks, and it's just second unit stuff. JJ Abrams won't even be there. It may not be until June (or later!) before the production hits Pinewood and perhaps other locations which is where the cast is really going to be needed, so we could still be months away from any casting announcements, unfortunately.

 

I'm a realist. And the most logical thing would for them to announce around May 4th or else casting will gradually leak when principal production starts.

And yes, I get it, we've been waiting a long time, but the blind pessimism is kind of tiring. We know we have to get news within the next month or else that means the filming has been delayed.

 

I voted yes, but I don't really care because I live in Australia and I'll be attending the May the 4th Star Wars marathon at my local cinema.
