Continuing along with my previous Mara Jade illustration, here is another bit of Mara Jade fan-art I'm creating.



This work in progress is more of a Photoshop manipulation...thus far, I've used about 80 different layers and pulled from about 30 different images to get this far. Ysanne still needs a glass of champagne (and arm!), as does Lord Day-Lewis. I also want to include some background characters, and put in some more "Imperial" style architecture (think Emperor's Throne Room windows).

Did you have difficulty trying to find/replicate the elements from the panel? Isard looks familiar but I can't place whom.

I am looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

I thought you might be interested to see a reference sheet, for Mara Jade.



These are the main images I used as reference, unedited. I first sought out a pose that was similar to the image from "Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand." Every image after that had to be transformed and color-corrected to match the Lucy Lawless image from a "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" promotional image. A lot of fabric textures and jewelery were pulled from other "Spartacus" images, all heavily manipulated. In addition to matching layers in Photoshop, I had to hand-draw (with a tablet) and alter other aspects of the image: edit out straps and jewelery, and change the gazes of each character (not an easy feat!).

The other two characters were treated similarly. I used images of Julianna Marguiles (Ysanne Isard) and Daniel Day-Lewis (http://www.theforce.net/swtc/insignia/badges.html]High[/url] Admiral Imperial Lord) for the two other EU characters.

I still have a LOT more to do, but please feel free to critique on how to make the image better!

Welcome back Mazzic! It's great seeing you again. I remember seeing this article some time ago and wondered if it was you that had working on the art. They look amazing, I love how the characters have turned out!

I really like that image of Asyr Sei'lar (and your other pilots, they're all very good), but she seems to be a bit more...backwardly inclined...than most folks with spines are apt to be. Maybe it's a trick of the light or something, or if she's supposed to be strutting...but the latter doesn't seem to be in her nature near as I can tell.
