Light is radiant energy and can cut through solid objects.

Light, including "visible light" (as it applies to human visual capabilities) is actually electromagnetic radiation. Radiation CAN, if powerful enough, penetrate solid object with particles, however cut? No. Not even gamma radiation can be used to physically cut something.

Which is radiant energy, like I said.

Cut/pass through, that was the context. You said light is stopped by solid objects when that's not necessarily so.

Blue = brave, green = wise, red = angry, yellow = guard (seen in the TCW episode "The Wrong Jedi"), and last but not least, purple = BMF. ;)

Anyway, I have wondered why (out-of-universe, not in-universe) ANH made lightsabers blue for good and red for bad guys but made ship lasers red for good guys and green for bad guys and blaster lasers red for everyone.

Pass through is not the same as cut. Remember the context. We were discussing whether or not light could slice through a solid object, it cannot. "Radiation particles passing through a solid object" is not the same as:

Certainly newcanon works describe them that way. In TFA: The Visual Dictionary, the blade of Kylo's saber is labelled "plasma blade". The main difference between it and a normal saber is that it has a stressed, cracked kyber crystal.

Star wars sabers don't seem to be lasers though - seem more like a blowtorch surrounded by a magnetic field (to keep the heat away from the user's hand).

(but requires less protection for the user).

They are, which is why the name "light saber" is more of a misnomer.

And "laser sword" an even bigger one. Curtis Saxton tried to retcon them into being "massless standing waves of energy" but it didn't take.
