Yes, our meeting is coming up this Saturday (not Sunday, which is Palm Sunday). Sorry we didn't post a thread earlier, but everyone knows that the meeting schedule is on our website, right?

    Meeting Schedule

Anyhow... Meeting 41 on Saturday, April 8th, at our usual location, the Broadway Mall food court. Club business will be discussed at 11 AM with General Mayhem to follow at noon. Captain Tomfoolery will not be with us this month. We will be discussing I-CON 25 and perhaps greeting some new members.

Don't think I can make it. I'll gently broach the topic with my beloved, but I spent both days last weekend wrapped up in tests, auditions and semifinals for VH1's World Series of Pop Culture show, vying to be one of 16 teams on the show this summer out of approximately 1200 teams that tried out. The verdict? They asked us today if we could be team 17--the backup team in case anyone can't make it to the taping dates in May or is disqualified. I'm inclined to say 'forget it'--we would have to study a lot, go to a ton of meetings and stay overnight in NYC for 2 nights (just teammembers, no family) without ever knowing if we'd get to play. Sounds like a big waste of my time to me, but our captain is going to attempt to negotiate something out of it. We'll see if he can.
Anyway, the point is, I wasn't around last weekend and the weekend prior was spent having fun at I-Con, so I've barely been around at home. Don't think I can talk my beloved into it, but you never know. I gotta learn that Jedi Mind Trick one of these days....

    JediJethro,
We're a social fan club, so basically we do stuff together that we all enjoy. Examples include watching movies, going to conventions, eating Cold Stone ice cream, playing trivia games, etc. The easiest way to figure out if you'll have a good time is to swing by a meeting and give it a try. We don't bite new members. ;)

    Rob,
I think you should come to the meeting in full wedding regalia. That way you'd be able to hang out with us longer and then head straight to the wedding in the afternoon. Just think of it as being in costume.

    Clive,
I hardly got to talk with you at I-CON, so it would be great if you could find time (permission?) to swing by the meeting. As you know, our meetings aren't super-long, so it's not like you'll be gone the whole weekend. And anyhow, you can always bring the family along. :)

    All,
For some strange reason, I have the urge to put a link in this post. So here it is: link.

Ark, Good thought , but I'm not gonna walk in
a suit. I hate wearing them. I can only handle
a few hours in them. Plus the wedding is further
    east of my house.

I always appreciate General Stupidity a lot more than, say, Private Joke.
Hope the meeting went well; i'm going to mark the May meeting on my calendar so that I can ensure I'll make it.

Docking Bay 516 Meeting 41 Minutes

    Saturday, April 8, 2006
    Meeting started at 11:55 AM

    Prior Events Recap

    I-CON 25 - March 24-26, 2006
    - DB516 table in the dealer room

This was worked out great, but it may be expensive in the future. We will have to see what will happen.

    - AeroSith playing Masquerade

The actual performance went well, but the ridiculous delays were very annoying. We will try to open next year rather playing near the end.

    - Live chess game and costuming panel

This didn't happen. The group seems to feel that taking a bigger role in I-CON in this manner is something we don't want to try again. Of course, if somebody decides to champion an effort like this next year, we'll revisit the decision then.

    - Clive's Indie films panel and fan film presentation

Clive wasn't here to talk about it. The rest of the group felt the panel went so-so but the fan film presentation went quite well, with about 45 people present.

    - AeroSith autograph signing

This didn't happen because Darth Maul was not able to stay over at the hotel. In general, the logistics for getting everybody together again on Sunday were too difficult.

    - Jar Jar game

The game is fun, but it seems to become somewhat of a chore. Two ideas to solve this problem: (1) We could run the game once in a while instead of all the time. (2) We could teach more people how to run the game so that the workload is spread out. Also, the I-CON dealer room guy gave us some grief for not checking with him about the darts. Next year, whatever we do, we should check with the appropriate I-CON staff person just in case.

    - Other table stuff
-- T-shirt and CD sales were okay, not too good.
-- Box for Mini-AeroSith was good. Consider boxing Micro-AeroSith.
-- Video loop on DVD was fine.
