After reading a thread in the literature forum about where Australian's get their Star Wars books from... I suggested Minotaur in Melbourne, and a few people have said that they have been there...

    That got me thinking...

I think it would be cool to meet fellow fans... how would you go about organising or doing something like this?

I'll be in on that. I'll be coming down to Melbourne from Wodonga late January or early February so if anyone wants to meet around that time I'm game!

I'd like to. Dunno if my parents will let me, but I can always persuade them. :)

    What should we do?

Perhaps we should liase with the official FanForce of Victoria - Skywalking... I have always wanted to join...

Same here, or we could do what NSW FF does.

    Our meets are always fun.

    A couple of tips:

A central location is always best.

Arrange to meet at a place that's well known to everyone.

Have the details fully finalised at LEAST a week in advance, so that everyone is sure of what's happening.

Just basic stuff, really. If you need any other help, just tell me - as I said, NSW meets are always WAY fun. :)

And Gatherer: I think this post'll probably be more helpful than my PM. ;)

    I'm in.

I nearly joined Skywalking, downloaded the form and all, but never go around to it.

What we really SHOULD do is organise to go see Episode 2 in May as a group, maybe in GOld Class or something!!

That sounds great, however, we should meet before hand, as seeing Episode II together we will appreciate it more if at least we have met in person before, etc..., but anyway, I expect Starwalking should be organising something...

I like PoT's idea of seeing AoTC in May. I also like the idea of meeting people before then. But above all, I am a sheep and will follow blindly what everyone else does (unless it's doing rude things to sheep, of course ;) Well... not unless you buy me a drink first, anyway.)

Movies are always good, so are cricket/football games, or even trivia/board game nights.

(thinks about the chance to punch PoT in the face, personally)

Why? What on earth have I done?

(mumbles about Cortex being a sore loser...)

Count me in. I might have similar problems to Elegos parent-wise, but I certainly like the idea. Minotaur would probably work, you'd just have to let everyone know where in the city that is. I haven't been there in over a year, so I've forgotten. :)

I am 16, soon to be 17. (In March)

I can tell you Jet-Eye is 17, as he and I are friends in Reality, and I would drag him along to anything we organised without his permission anyway. :p

I really think we should pursue this idea.

I'm 17 as well. I don't have any RL friends on these boards, but I could probably drag a fellow SW fan I know along with me.

What we should do is all meet at Minotaur and then go to Swanston St Mcdonalds in order become better aquainted. A Jedi Council Luncheon!

Well, I can't do McDonalds because I'm vegan (no meat, eggs or dairy - NOT a native from star Vega. Thought I'd clarify before some wag decided to jump in.) And since there are under 18s who will be coming we can't do a pub. How about a licenced cafe or something?

Bloody hell. This is going to be more complicated than organising the Normandy Landing. :D

These ideas are getting better! :)

Does anyone know if the organiser of Starwalking still posts here?! It is Chris, isn't it??

The casino is nearby, perhaps we could find a suitable place to dine there, Perhaps the All Star Cafe.

That doesn't sound too bad. I also suggest Crown for the meeting place to see Ep2 if we get around to that, it's nice and central.

Unforunately LordvaderFF can't pop by as much as he used to, so I'll chip in on his behalf.

To answer your question, the club's name is STAR WALKING not Skywalking.

Ironically we're having our first 2002 meeting this Saturday (see www.starwalking.net - then look under the link for Skyforce).

I think having a meet and greet of fellow forumers(?) is a good idea, assuming an agreed time and place can be decided apon.

That's why Skyforce meetings work so well, we already have the time and place picked out - it even has a great Star Wars atmosphere to go with it. Ya can't go wrong.

As for my age, I'm 15 and in about 5 and half months I'm 16.

For the Skyforce meet, I might actaully be able to go. Depends if I get the yay or nay from my parents.
