    The original is an ugly unpleasant experience that displays none of the beauty of the original story. It's just "hey, let's beat the ****ing **** out of Jim Caviezel for 2 hours!" Oh and the Jewish characters are all horribly portrayed. Mel is an insane director in general.

    And I'm a bigoted left-wing atheist liberal who hates all things Christianity.

    I'm not opposed to the making of Christian based movies, although I personally have no interest in watching them.

    However, this movie did seem to be really gratuitous. And I do know what happens to the human body during crucifixion, there's a reason it is considered the worst torture or one of the worst that humankind has ever inflicted. I'm just not sure what the point is of putting it in a movie.

    And how the hell are they going to do a sequel? Jesus rose from the dead and pissed off the occupying Roman government of Palestine again so they crucify him again?
