So everyone, Memorial day weekend is upon us, and I decided that we needed to do something.

Who's up for BBQ at somebody's house, a trip to mexico, a visit to the beach at San Diego, or SOMETHING!

Let's hear some ideas, have some fun, and have a great weekend.

a visit to the beach at San Diego

Don't come this way...I am going to be out that way... [face_laugh]

However if anyone does want to come to San Diego for Mem-day weekend you could stay in my apartment while I am gone...Like a free Time share...all you have to do is feed that cats!

Err... no idea about monday, yet...

    Heh heh....

Altho, theoretically, if we are all going to be out this way to go to champlin (bonus points to who can tell me the FULL name of the field it's located at) - it's but a hop skip and a jump out to our new place...

    Commander BBQ standing by...

Actually MJ, you are thinking of the right place, but what it is called today, is not the full name of the field - I'm sure Voidey Biscuit knows, but is just playing the silent type...

THe original name created back in 1941 was
Falcon Field - Southwest Airways training base.

Today the official name from the owners (city of mesa) is just "Falcon Field Airport"

Copied right from the Web Site:

    Hours/Map/Information

Convenient Mesa location is only minutes from many Phoenix area communities. See detailed map below or call for more directions.

Located at Falcon Field on McKellips Rd. at 4636 Fighter Aces Drive, Mesa, AZ 85215. From the west, Hwy 202 (Red Mountain Expressway) is open to Higley Road.

No. I am correct. It is officially named, by the city entity that owns it City of Mesa...as Falcon Field Airport

the museum is called Champlin Fighter Aircraft Museum and located on said patch of land just north of the police department and the landing pads for Falcon 4 and Falcon 2 (mesa police helocopters) and DPS Ranger used to park out there, don't know if they still do or not, and additionaly Fox 1 (MCSO's) Helo also is stationed there. There is a really good dining establishment there called anzio's landing on the north east side of the field, Really good itallian food.

Other than that... don't know nothing about the place, and never heard of it ;)
