Recently, Epic Games unveiled two new projects slated for 2011. The first game, predictably, was Gears of War 3, the third entry in the blockbuster franchise for the Xbox 360/PC. The second game, however, was an entirely new multi-platform IP from Polish developer People Can Fly, the studio behind the 2004 cult hit Painkiller for the PC. The game is called Bulletstorm, and is the latest cover feature for Game Informer magazine. Here are the scans, courtesy of Just Ad Nauseum.

    Bulletstorm is 'groundbreaking,' claims writer

FPS Bulletstorm will be a "groundbreaking" moment for video games, according to the writer drafted in by Epic Games.

As previously reported, the game is being developed by Polish studio and Epic subsidiary People Can Fly - creators of acclaimed FPS Painkiller. It will be published by EA.

The story is downright bonkers - focusing on a space pirate who drunkenly crashes his ship into an arch-enemy's vessel... only to land on a planet inhabited by evil aliens.

Rick Remender is the man responsible for the plotline - and previously worked for Visceral Games on Dead Space.

"[Epic] flew me out to Warsaw for a week and we all locked down the story together as you would in any writer's room," he told Game Informer. "We tore it up, everyone had great ideas, by the end we'd written our dream sci-fi movie. It just so happens that it's also a groundbreaking video game.

"It's been a great production; they are equally as invested in story and gameplay in a way I don't see that often. Working this way has set apart the better games of the past few years, just never in a FPS. It achieves total immersion. So, no communication issues, so far the process has been a dream."

Bulletstorm is due for release in 2011.

    Really excited for this one.

I read the article. I can say with confidence that this does not look appealing to me. Maybe as time goes on, it'll grab my interest but as it is, this just looks subpar.
