Every single time this thread is upped I hold out a fraction of hope that we can edit the title to "MORE Concept art you wanted to see"

 

Thanks a lot for giving me hope that we got more concept art only to have my heart crushed

 

To be fair, it is pretty damned cool that the concept art for 'Skellig castle'.is very. similar to the above RMQ concept (lower left).

 

They moved away from those designs in later months. Not sure if that matters, but it does indicate those didn't satisfy the powers that be.

I have absolutely NO doubt in my mind whatsoever that the concept art "leaked" in October was purposefully done so. I don't think the sources that got it or leaked it realized they were being set up to do so however. I think that whoever got them the pics were given clearance by LF and Disney to do so and that the 25-30 pics revealed on October 14 were precisely meant to be.

Remember, the very first teaser for ESB was a narrative with concept art. 2-3 weeks after the concept art was "leaked" for TFA, the title was announced. Then, 2-3 weeks later, the teaser was released. If a poster comes out this week, the same time frame will be held. ALL of this started rolling when filming finished. Plus, some of the concept art was from places that were photographed during filming. A couple of items were close or even identical (Rey's speeder) from the teaser.

All this being said, I think it was a good, er, rather GREAT thing that it was leaked and even more exciting that it may have been (probably was) done so intentionally.

After all, did anyone get in trouble for leaking them?

What about all the other pieces of concept art that MSW has access to?

 

those are from his sources and or friends, so it's not a studio leak
also sites like Badass, SWU, and Indie Revolver all saw or released concept art from their sources.

 

What I'm saying is that I can't see how the small leak could have been orchestrated by LFL when there's so much more out there.

 

and I agree with you I don't believe it was a planned leak,
I was just saying that all those sites got their stuff from sources and not from a intentional Lucasfilm leak.
