well I think collecting Concept art of VII and saving them is fun.

If I remember right bottom left is an early concept for Maz Kanata, i'm sure someone from MSW will confirm it.

 

You don't think they are all concept art for the same character? As in, they are all concept art for Maz Kanata?

EDIT: I do. I think they are all concept art for Maz, but we may see the unused concepts in the background.

 

knowing Lucasfilm these concepts will be reused for another project at some point nothing in that company seems to go fully to waste.

 

The bottom left is the only one i'm certain ive seen before, but i'd agree they all look like variations of possibly the same character.

The bottom right looks similar to another design I saw, possibly it was done by a different artist and they've combined them for the final character design.

 

Upper-left looks like Pleakley's grandmother.

 

Nice to finally have a bit of a clue about the man I want to see this for: Max!

Try as I might I can not align those plans for the Pirate's Cove with the Greenham Common location. Unless, of course the Rebel Base is a lot larger than just the G.C. site and has myriad launching areas and hangars built into the landscape.

Another possibility is that they were originally going to build a set based on those plans, but then decided to use a real location (GC), which, as many have pointed out, bears a strong resemblance to the KOTOR version of Dantooine.

Yeah, my guess would be that these are (proposed?) sets of the interior and Greenham Common is the exterior. The bunkers openings in GC lead to a network underground hangers, rooms etc.

 

Some of the concept art for this flick seems to be really, really poor IMO. I know most of what I've seen are just quick sketches and the like, but damn. Try to draw a decent circle, son! And I don't want anyone to post GL's doodles for Star Wars either, that doesn't count.

Hopefully they have actual good concept art that hasn't leaked, otherwise the book is gonna suck.

 

I thought the first Concept art leak that happened back in October 2014 was great as there was barely any info or rumors and seeing 30+ art and leaving the rest to imagination was fun.

 

I have some really poor looking concept art for AOTC that illustrates the shots perfectly but you would never hang it on your wall.

Really curious what people think of those designs, regardless of MSW's accuracy or inaccuracy.

All I'll say about them is ... I really, REALLY miss Joe Johnston on this production.

 

You're going to be eating a lot of crow in about 60 days.

 

The designs are great. Glad they jettisoned the fussier X-Wing, though. And not a huge fan of the U-Wing.

So far, the design work seems to be much better than that in the PT. At least, better than the work done for AOTC and ROTS.
