I hope they ditch the animus plot until at least the end. I don't think two running storylines will translate well to film. Not that it can't be done, but you run the risk of confusing audiences with switches to the past and the present.

Then why would people who played the game watch it? It's not a book.

Also, Street Fighter didn't really have an intelligible storyline to "follow."

Street Fighter killed Raul Julia (okay maybe not) but it has some fantastically awesome (terrible) lines. Mortal Kombat is so bad it's awesome. I mean it has Christopher Lambert in it. I would have to say Silent Hill was the best adaptation of a video game because it was the most faithful to its source material. I have yet to see Revelations.

Yes, this. Make it part of the larger body of canon, rather than some lame adaptation.

When I was your age, we had this big star named Ben Kingsley. Academy Award winner, Gandhi, big movie, very well-respected, you know the drill.

Now, with that in mind, go and rent out Bloodrayne. And then tell me "picky about the script".

How do you play this thing? Is it one prolonged photo-realistic cutscene after another with actual little gameplay? I thought I could expect that **** out of the stupid Metal Gear Solid games.

[puts on bifocals] Back in my day, it was easy to forgive bad video game-to-movie adaptations. Double Dragon? The plot of the game was two brothers who fight their way across an urban landscape to rescue a kidnapped girlfriend. Super Mario Bros.? Two... brothers jump their way across a... fantasy landscape to rescue a... kidnapped princess. Anyway, point is, they had no plot. But today's videogames have plots and characters that are often as deep and fleshed out as those in movies (perhaps more). So really there's no excuse for the still rather poor hit/miss ratio. Maybe Assassin's Creed will start to change that (because by the looks of it, it's not going to be World of Warcraft, though the buzz from early screenings is pretty good). Heck of a cast here, too!

Only watched the games being played by someone else, but this movie looks very promising. I'll see anything Fassbender is in.

It's coming out the weekend after SW:R1. They want this to fail.

    This hurts you.

Fassbender has been involved with this project for about four years. I am interested to see almost anything he is in.
