    the reviews address this concern, saying the movie will "captivate" popcorn movie goers as well as arthouse, and, in another review, conceding the movie has a dark side (to be expected from the director) but is ultimately "beautiful" and "unexpected"

    Iñarritu can indeed be extremely bleak, sometimes to ridiculous extents. I couldn't stand Biutiful, even though it was technically impeccable and it starred my homeboy Javier.

    I'm interested. It appears that it will have a lot of comedy in it and if there's one thing that seems ill-suited for this director, it's comedy. It'll be dark of course.

    My God, the cinematography.


    Long takes are the best thing, and, even though there were some obvious cheats to keep the entire movie uncut, some of the segments were remarkable.

    Going in I was unaware it was edited to look like one epic tracking shot, so I was extremely impressed. There's only really a few places where you can tell they "cheated", mostly the staircase scenes, but otherwise it's pretty ****ing awesome.
