This thread is basically to share travel tips, for the planning committee to keep track of who is coming in on plane, train, automobile or bus. You can also post want ads.

    Example:
Wanted: Ride from KC to St. Louis, willing to pay for part of gas and supply beef jerky.

    Or

Offer: Have room for two from KC to St. Louis, help with gas appreciated.

    Or

Wanted: Male Room mate to share hotel expenses at the Adam's Mark.

Okay, people post away and let me know if you have any questions.

    Leash

When you book a room at the Adam's Mark make sure to post it on the Midwest Regional Meeting main thread so we can mark it off on our ticker.
    Thanks!

There are many ways to get to St. Louis, plane, train, automobile and bus. We have a "decent" mass transit system also. We will be taking advantage of the mass transit system as much as possible during that weekend.

    Our Airport:

Amtrak: (the closest station would be downtown, 63101)

Greyhound: (Again, you want the downtown station)

    Enterprise Rent a Car:

Insider tip, I used to work at Enterprise Rent a Car and the website will always be the cheapest rate. You can make a reservation without using your credit card to hold it. So you can make reservations and then continue to check the website and cancel if you get a better rate.

Expedia and Travelocity both charge a fee if you cancel and always check the websites of the company first as the rates are normally the same or cheaper.

Here is the link to our transit system. The website can be quite confusing unless you know where you are going and are familiar with street names. Once you know what buses or metrolink station to take, it's easy! If you are coming in early or staying late, or want to venture out on your own while you are here and want to use the Metro system let me know.
I am an old pro and can tell you what buses or metrolink station you need.

If you are flying in you can take the Metrolink from the airport to about 4 blocks from the hotel.

The Metrolink is free to ride from Laclede's Landing to Union Station which encompasses almost all of downtown St. Louis.

A one day pass is $4.00.

I just want to point out that you are highly encouraged to stay at the Adams Mark if you plan on staying at a hotel. MJ and I are stuck paying the difference for any rooms we don't pick up. 1 extra room means an extra $200 for me. ( Friday $99 + Saturday $99). Sorry, I am just kinda freaking out cause we could end up paying several grand if they aren't picked up.

Yes, we definitely encourage everyone to stay at the Adam's Mark! It will be the main hub for the weekends events.

Myself and GsWookie are staying at official hotel and are traveling via Amtrack. Do we need to post arrival/departure for transporatation? If so perhaps over PM so the whole world doesn't know the specifics of our itenerary.
