Mile-Hi Con...anyone going?

Found out about it from some lady at Starfest. She wanted me to bring in some of my artwork, but I don't have a computer to size it and no printer to print it in high quality...and even if I had those, I have no mattboard and hangers to frame it...lol. But it looks like it'll have lots of cool workshops for writers.

I know we got some writers here so I was just wondering if anyone was gonna go. I'm thinking about it. Jack McDevitt is gonna be there, and Rebecca Moesta MIGHT be there according to the flier.

The con is October 18-20 in Lakewood.

Has anyone been there and possibly know what it's like? Might be cool to get some books signed by Jack McDevitt...if they do that, that is.

 

I've been thinking about going, but I won't know for sure until it's almost time. We have several properties lined up for purchase, so I may have to go out of town.

I think I'm going to enter the short story contest. I got a sweet-arse 1st person vampire story I'm workin on. Should end up pretty good (haven't written in awhile, so we'll just have to see).

Good luck on the writing, and let me know if you want an editor. I've been working w/ someone in the FanFic boards on their story, so my editor skills are working pretty good right now.

 

what kinda con is it just sci-fi stuff?

 

Sci-Fi/Fantasy and it focuses mainly on the Literature.

 

yeah, more or less. more oriented toward literary sf/f and horror stuff. they have gaming and stuff there, not sure if they'll be doing the TCG or not, you could probably ask them.

I haven't gone to a Mile Hi Con in probably 15 years, mostly because it's primarily a literary sci-fi con, not a media one, and i'm not all that into literary sci-fi. Plus my experience was that it was a very clicky(sp) group who went there.

That was now a long time ago, and since i've been involved in working at Starcon, i'm probably in most of those cliques now for all I know .

If at least two or three RMFF'rs go, i'm sure we'll have a good time one way or another.

Plus if it will support your writing JD, i'm game.

yeah, I'd definitely like to get back into the writing thing...

 

I'm game but wont know if I can afford to go to till the very last second. I have some ideas going on in my head and this might be the can opener I need to get them out.

I got the flyer in the mail. I think I may still have it laying around. They have a web site up about it, but I think I got rid of the flyer because I couldn't go. Anyways I could try to dig it out if I felt so inclined.

this is coming up and it's the weekend BEFORE the children's hospital thing.

Michael: you said something about going up for just a day, if we go for just 1 day, is it still the full $30 or does it cost less? (there's no option on the flyer or website for 1 day passes).

 

Just looked on the website, I don't have anymore info than that, I haven't been to one in over 13 years.

hmmm sounds interesting. It would be fun if they had TCG going on but probably not. Either way, sounds interesting. Not too into the book world though

 

I bet if you contacted them and sounded interested in it, they would at least try to get it there next year. most of their fliers keep talking about how they need people to run some of the gaming stuff.

 

The website does show a 24 hour gaming room, I didn't recognize any of the games.

Okay, here's the deal.

1-day pass for Friday: $12
1-day pass for Saturday: $18
1-day pass for Sunday: $15

Whole weekend: $30

 

I can swing that for one day, once we figure out which day works, i'm in.

 

Saturday works best for me I think. Plus isn't the good stuff at cons usually on saturdays?
