    Mile-Hi Con

Okay, since I was the first one to do this, it seems I have a permanent place on their mailing list, however, with helping WOTR at Halloween, I am not going to be able to coordinate this one.

Here's the info from the email, after that you guys are on your own :)

    [blockquote]Hi Sponsors!

Sorry for the mass mailing, we are finally getting things back together after our move and we find that time has slipped away and MileHiCon is about 12 weeks away.

Several of you have inquired about information on the ConSuite and/or asked about specific time slots. I'm sending the web master for MileHiCon the updated ConSuite Requirements and Sign Up Sheet. It should be available on the website in the next week or so.

Read the Requirements and if your group/organization wants to sponsor fill out the Sign Up Sheet and mail it to:

    ConSuite
    c/o Bill & Sue VanCleave
    P. O. Box 82
    Kiowa, CO 80117

If your group/organization has sponsored in the past and you're already familiar with the rules, send your refundable deposit of $40 by September 1st, or $50 by October 1st to the address above. Please identify the specific time slot you would like, with 1 or 2 alternates. We will do our best to accommodate your requests.

    Thanks
    Bill & Sue
    ConSuite Coordinators
    [/blockquote]

Remember when figuring out how much food to bring these things:

    1) we can get up too 200 people through the con suite during 2 hours

    2) make sure that you have appropriate type food for your time slot: ie if y ou have the noon - 2pm time slot a bunch of candy is probably gonna lead to cranky peeps.

    3) I will add more as I think of it

    4) I don't know if I will be able to do MHC at all this year so make sure you keep in touch with Bill and Sue

Typically, Mile Hi Con is more literary than movie oriented. It's not as big as StarFest (not that StarFest is all that big in the first place), and it is much more laid back. Think Opus, but without all the minicons running in conjuction with it.

Mile Hi Con is a great con for newbs since it's not so busy, and it's fun as a more social con.

MHC is no Starfest, but it's still fun to go to if for no other reason than the RMFF partying that goes on :D

I think I only went the first & maybe second year (can't remember for sure, it all sorta bleeds together now), but I remember sitting in on a couple interesting panels film- and book-related.

I go to MHC every year. It's more literary oriented. The guests are all writers and artists (although Richard Elfman was there a few years ago promoting "Modern Vampires.") There's a masquerade, and the usual anime, gaming, and film rooms. The art show's pretty good. Lots of panels and author readings and stuff.

I can't volunteer to help with anything since I usually have a ton of other stuff going on at this con. [shameless plug]Come to my reading![/shameless plug]

The book's out November 1 (same day as the ROTS DVD release if I'm not mistaken. Auspicious!)

My mom and I were just watching DS9 last night, in fact. She hadn't seen it when it aired, so we're working our way through the series now. Good stuff.

    Wow, MHC again? Yikes.

I have to chime in and agree, it's all about the RMFF party... :D

OK SS, that was pretty darn funny. I think you should do Sci-Fi Stand-Up. We could all be placed participants in your audience.
Only I wanna be the guy with the tomato! :D

Sooooooooo MHC Hmmmm? Never been. Perhaps it's time to check it out. And now I will know some people who attend.
And what's this speak of RMFF partying? NOW that I want to check out.

I think it pretty much depends on if we have a party room or not. I think at the last one, we only had 1 room, and that was shared between Mistress, Taeriel, Rachel, and I...so there wasn't much room for partying with all of our junk there. That, and I think everyone was kinda stressing over hosting a spot in the concession room place.

And a red thong was missing from the room after being ransacked by Klingons.

The year before that, there was a pretty good party. That's when Rachel and I met everyone.

so anyways, yeah MHC, what is RMFF gonna do for this one thats fun? i hear they dont have minicons or nothing
    is starfleet gonna be there?

Ah, but it could be argued that you all have been a good influence on me. It all depends on your point of view. :D

Say, did anyone ever track down that red thong?
