What do we think about the Pod Falcon? It looks too big and complex to be a Millenium Falcon escape pod. Is it a sister ship? Maybe it is a set of "wheels" Uncle Han bought Daisy for her 21st birthday. Could it be salvaged wreckage from the Falcon that is built into a new ship with a mix of othe parts? It doesn't seem to have any recognisable Falcon bits to it....

Maybe "pod falcon" is just some weird code name...kinda hoping that it's not a peiece that, like, falls away from the underside of the actual M Falcon or something like "it's been there all along!" Kinda like R2's jets which came out of no where...

Yes, I was thining of that too. They could have it as an addition though - something that Han has strapped on in the last 30 years and is plainly visible underneath. It is still a bit like a blatant "Chekov's Gun" though.

Looks like it has X-wing engines on top.

Is this a lot smaller than the Falcon is supposed to be? Seems like an awful lot of effort for something that is not to scale and only used for "in the background" .

The Falcon is supposed to be 34.75 m long in the Databank.

Any idea of the length of this construction? Any way to judge it?

For a background shot, it's easy for a not quite to scale prop to look full scale in the end scene.

They did the same thing in the OT.

It's an alternate design for Kira's ship I think. The brief seems to be 'four engines and cockpit up front' so you have this one and the less exciting one seen in the other concept pieces (parked in the belly of her AT-AT 'home'). Some have speculated that it is just a tractor for hauling heavy scrap around and if they went with the other design I could just about buy that. This design in discussion here (if used) seems far too pretty to be just a tractor, seems more like an equivalent to Slave I.

Yes - the Falcon prop in TESB was only 80 ft long.

Just did a few calculations and Kira's four-engined tractor would be 5.5 metres wide.

Do those concrete slabs under the Falcon match up to a particular standard slab size, when compared to that crane?

If so, that could be used as a basis for estimating prop size.

Problem is, I've no idea what kind of crane that is - anyone more versed in automobile recognition who can give us the make and dimensions?

Just eyeballing it, but it looks fine to me. Look at the guy standing under it. Now, imagine there was a loading ramp right next to him, or imagine the cockpit mounted right above him. That guy looks to scale with the rest of it, so yeah...probably pretty close.

Or those guys standing on top of it. Could they fit into the gunnery chairs?

No, too small. Those guys on top, if you imagine them inside, show the rear compartment to be quite small.

Its funny. Lucasfilm/Disney and Hasbro know they will sell a ton of "new" Falcon toys even if all that's new about the ship is the rectangular dish.:p

The gunnery chairs were a pain to justify even with the 34.75m Falcon. But it can't be scaled up past that - because you end up with everything else being oversized - like the main cockpit.

But those are on the inside. Everything will be to scale on the internal sets.

I meant judging the size of the workers to the overall size of the ship.

Are they suggestive of a ship significantly smaller than the aforementioned 34.75m? I can't tell.
