Well, work called and I answered. I will not be making the Milwaukee Art Museum next weekend. Duty called and my poor self responded. I'm sure my absense will not dampen the day for all. If there is a possibility that you all (or even a group of you) will still be out and about in the early evening, let me know. I will e-mail my cell number to someone to let me know the finer details of the eve and I could meet up with y'all later.

    Wisconsith FanForce . . . ? Not exactly a "good guy" one, but nonetheles . . .

    Hi Bujo:

I'm 25, born in Berlin, raised in Milwaukee and moved to and from California.

Fell in love with Star Wars while I a youngster--was real sheltered as a kid, raised with a strict upbringing and my dad cut out the "force" scenes so I was even more determined to find out what the hell Star Wars was all about in my early teen years.

Did some artwork & T-Shirt designs at Gen Con for the Aliens Game and had an autograph session, and I met Mark Hamill there in 1995. LeiaYT1300 and I have worked on fanzines together (she does great writing/I did the last cover art)...

Before I even met LeiaYT1300, I was already obsessed with escaping through Star Wars John Williams' music (know every rhythm & sound to the original music scores), and the art of Star Wars... after a summer in my room creating my own Star Wars collection from old bookstores, paper cut-outs & what I could find at rummage sales I applied to MHSA (Milw. H.S. of the Arts) and found my major in visual arts. There I met my best friend LeiaYT1300. Then I moved into CG, while meaning to get into Sp. FX (ILM) and got a degree in CG/Visual Communication. Spent two years at the 440th Air Wing, AFRC working in art/CG and airplanes, then another 3-4 years between Milwaukee and Long Beach CA doing computer graphics. Now am working in the Historic Third Ward as a Multimedia Specialist and about to train to become a certified public speaker.

Meanwhile, my Star Wars collection sits in storage until I move again (it's remained there since I moved back from the Los Angeles area). Some of it has potential monetary value--a lot is actually sentimental value even though it's old stuff--it's not mint.

LeiaYT1300 and I compliment each other because she takes 1/2 the reins and I take the other half.

    She does the:
    Han/Leia fandom
    Writing fanfiction
    Costuming

    I do the:
    Luke fandom
    Art/CG/fanart/web design
    Celebrity Autograph collecting

..and we both collect the 1977-1983 merch.

Hope to meet many of you soon at the Art Museum on Saturday. I've been out of the loop since I moved back--maybe this meeting will get me back on board.

I don't know if this commentary is going to mean anything, but "Wisconsin: The Power Of Cheese" sounds like we live amongst cows, period. California has officially taken over the power of dairy anyway (even if we're still cheeseheads) and maybe it's 'cause I was born in Berlin, but I prefer something with strength over something that gets mold. Any other ideas out there?

I'm not the best with words, better with pictures, but I hate the vision I'm getting with the cheese. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah, I've never had an appreciation for the Dairy State stereotype.

On the other hand, perhaps it should be spelled "Milwookiee."

I agree BYOB - the dairy thing is a bit overdone.

I'm a huge Packer fan, but I think we should avoid Packer themes as well.

Since those are the two obvious subjects that people associate with Wisconsin we will need to get the creative juices flowing.

Perhaps we could come up with some ideas Saturday and then take the top five and start a poll here next week.

    A couple thoughts:

Wisconsin fan force - Turn to the dark side you hoser.

(Yeah - I know it's more a Canada thing, but I think it's still hilarious.)

Wisonsin Fan Force - "Wisconsin's not a system its a state. Sheepshead players, brats, football. You'd like it"

Wisconsin Fan Force - Better bring your speeder because it's too cold for Tauntauns

Okay everyone!!.. I think I need to speak up a little.. I know this thread is named Milwookie FanForce, but that's all it is. A few of us started this first meeting at the Art Museum as Wisconsin residents. And now, that more people have came into the picture (some that have been a part of this MilwaukeeForum longer) it seems there is a small debate about the name (Wisconsin or Milwaukee).. .

One important fact is: not all of us live in Milwaukee. I thought this would be a State-wide thing, attracting everyone. My opinion is this: I care more about meeting people and having fun, than a name... Wait until the meeting (the serious part) and we will vote on a City Rep and then a name.. Sound good?? Think 'Fun', and I'll see all of you Saturday. Mmmkay.. Later..

Well I don't live in Milwaukee, but I don't have a problem with the Fan Force being named after it. It's a port city, so by its very nature it has become the cultural hub of the entire state. Madison comes close, but it's far too isolated.

And again, if we name the FF after Milwaukee, it should be spelled Mil-WOOKIEE.

A City Rep is not chosen until your third meeting, which would make you official. It gives everyone a chance to meet and assess stong points of each person as a leader and representative. The CR will be elected by the group and then the nomination is sent to me by three people confirming that is the will of the group.

For the record, there are probably just as many non-Chicago residents a part of Chicago Force, and plenty of non-Indianapolis folks in the Indy Knights.
Whatever the group consensus is, is great. Milwookiee is just as appropriate as Wisconsin.

BYOB--spelling wookiee wrong is one of my pet peeves :)

That is the spirit Mauler, we can use more ideas like those. I like the tauntaun one too. If it is creative, I won't fight about the name. We will talk about it on Saturday. In the meantime....THINK FUN, FUN, FUN. This is not supposed to be stressful. I get enough of that from those non-believers that surround me every day. I don't need it from fellow force-followers.
Think fun.....relaxing....... Picture a beautiful meadow.......trees waving peacefully in the breeze.........you are floating up to the clouds..........Do you feel yourself getting lighter and lighter?..........lol

Some ideas for Wisconsin's motto (incl. other people's):

    "Wisconsin: That Thing's Operational!"

    "Wisconsin: Land of Hoth"

"Wisconsin: Strong Are We With The Force"

"Wisconsin: I've decided that we shall stay here"

"Wisconsin: Not bad for a little furball"

"Wisconsin: Wisconsin will show you the true nature of the force. It is your master now"

"Wisconsin: Wonderful! Now we are part of the tribe"

"Wisconsin: Mudhole? Slimy? My home this is!"

"Wisconsin: Go to the Wisconsin System. There, you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me."

"Wisconsin: Bring your SnowSpeeder 'cause it's too cold for Tauntauns."

Sorry guys, but the whole teenager thing has taken a decidedly bad turn, as I am yet without a licence, and despite the fact that I will know people (No, Wampas, I haven't heard anything from anyone. I'll e-mail Peter one of these days) my parents are a little miffed about not knowing where we're going after the Art Museum. Work could also be a problem, but if anyone could give me a SET list of places we're going to be (and wouldn't mind giving me a ride at least from the art museum to said place) I think my parents might lean up a bit.

We had thought of a few ideas, but had been saving them for the meeting. Now that they're out there and flowing, we thought we would mention them. We tried to stay away from the cheese thing since like someone pointed out, California produces more. (I think we are the cranberry state though. Useless fact: Boston consumes more cranberries per capita than any other US city). Our ideas were more name based than motto based, but some of the mottos fit well with these, since most of them have to do with our image as "the frozen tundra." We liked the sound of Milwookiee so we tried to come up with something like that only state wide.

Wisconsin Echo Base (Or, Wis-cho Base)
    The Wisconsin Snowspeeders
    The Wisconsin Snowtroopers
    Wisconsin Tauntaun Cavalry
Wampasconsin (the reason we picked "Wampas" in the first place is because we're in Wisconsin)
    Wedge-sconsin
Sithconsin or Wisconsith (I think someone mentioned this one)
    Wishothson

By the way, I was thinking the other day, and came up with an idea that while waiting in line for the 22nd/23rd toy rush, for tickets, and while goofing off at the Peter Mayhew thing, maybe we could pass out flyers talking about the group, how to contact us, post on the board, etc, that way we can get more people if that's something we want. Just an idea.

First off, I LOVE the name "Mil-wookiee." Makes me laugh. I also love the "Bring your speeder..." motto. :D

And as Erica said, there are many members of Chicago Force that do not actually live in Chicago. Actually, exactly half of our 12 member board of directors resides outside of the city. The major city in any area will naturally be the hub of the membership just because that is where most of the members will come from. However, it's my experience that suburban folks have no problem joining in. If the group as a whole has no problem with a Milwaukee based name, than go for it. The club is geographic based, so I think that it's good to including that information in the name.

Well said, Darth Jurist, and thanks for the invite... I guess one thing we need to ask ourselves is: Do we want to accommodate the state or just the Milwaukee area?? I think this might help us determine our name.. But either way, I'm going to be a part of this even if it kills me... I have talked to some of you through Email and now, I'm attached.. :) We can have a vote Saturday.. Sound good??

I don't mean to be too harsh, but "Wisconsin Tauntaun Cavalry" is the only one besides "Milwookiee Fan Force" that doesn't make me cringe.

Do you think people will drive from Green Bay or Madison to Milwaukee for meetings? Those are low traffic areas at the moment, but you never know. You don't need to have your name either the moment you become official. Whenever your group is ready, we can add it. :)

I like Milwookiee. I don't live in Milwaukee, but I wouldn't mind a Milwaukee base. Milwaukee is our biggest city and I think we can pull in from all over the state. If we stick with Milwaukee then fans who are too far away to attend events could create their own FanForce, but if we do a state-wide, then those fans are kind of stuck. However, if everyone thinks we should do a state-wide, I really like Wisconsin Tauntaun Cavalry

The Tauntaun Calvary is clever. I like that and MilWookie. I live in Milwaukee for 3 months a year and Oshkosh for the other 9. I don't mind Milwaukee being base of operations. It's cool with me!
BTW, how about this weather?! It's 55 degrees here!! I'm wearing sandals!!!! :D
