I have the mirroring is very, very suggestive tbh. Not like the PT and OT, where scenes were a complete reflection. This might be clutching at straws.

After Ahsoka died on Mortis: [IMG]
After Ezra thinks Ahsoka died on Malachor (and it is possible she may have, although I doubt it):

    And some dialogue mirrors:

    From Ghosts of Mortis:
The Son (to Obi-Wan): "He's mine now."

From Twilight of the Apprentice, Part II:
    Kanan: "Where's Ezra?"
    Maul: "You mean my apprentice?"

    From Overlords:
    Anakin: "You're a Sith lord!"
The Father: "You have a very simple view of the universe. I am neither Sith nor Jedi."

From The Twilight of the Apprentice, Part I:
    Ezra: "Were you a Jedi?"
Maul: "Uh, no, no, no. But I was once a Force-wielder, long ago. Long, long ago."
    Ezra: "Then you're a Sith."

TCW - "So, if you're a Captain, and i'm a Jedi, then technically i outrank you, right?" "In my book, experience outranks everything." "Well, if experience outranks everything, i guess i better start getting some."
Rebels - "You don't exactly outrank me anymore." "In my book, experience outranks everything." "Then i definitely outrank you."

I swear, when I saw that teaser for the Season 2 Finale, I was 100% sure Ahsoka was going to die and that quote was a bookends thing. The first thing Ahsoka said to Rex was the same as their final conversation.

Just saw some interesting parallels between Mortis and Maul in Rebels. In Altar of Mortis, the Son takes the guise of an old prisoner while Ahsoka is chained up. The Son frees her, then says that the only way for her to survive is to forget her master.

This struck me as being very similar to Maul's strategies with Ezra. When they first meet, Ezra is lost underground, and Maul is in the guise of an old man. Maul wants Ezra to become his apprentice and to forget Kanan, his old master.

The thing that made this jump out to me was that the Son directly quotes Maul in that scene: "The chains are the easy part. It's what goes on in here (the mind) that's hard".

Given that the Holocron chamber in the Malachor temple is also reminiscence of the Altar where the sword was hidden on Mortis, and the Daughter-like owls, this seems like more than a coincidence.

I have noticed there are a lot of similarities between the Twilight of the Apprentice and the Mortis arc.

For one, Anakin and Ezra are both separated from their group and meet a dark sider user, the Son and Maul respectively. Anakin is influenced by the Son to use the dark side and Ezra is influenced by Maul to use the dark side.

Ahsoka dies in the Mortis arc and is believed to be dead at the end of the Twilight of the Apprentice.

Ahsoka is bitten by the Son after trusting him and Kanan is blinded by Maul after sort of ‘trusting’ him, or at least coming to some sort of alliance.

Both are groups of good guys consisting of three Jedi, two master figures and one padawan.

Even the exterior of Mortis and the exterior of the Malachor temple are both triangular in shape and kind of look similar:

The lighting in those scenes is just amazing. In the Clone Wars shot, it's sunset. The light is beginning to fade as the sun sets on the Republic and the Jedi Order. Anakin and Ahsoka part ways as the light fades and darkness looms on the horizon.

When they next meet in Rebels, it's completely dark. There is no natural light in the Sith Temple and that reflects the situation in the Galaxy. The light of the Jedi Order has vanished and the darkness of the Sith shrouds the Galaxy.

Ahsoka and Anakin parted ways at sunset and as the light faded, Anakin was swallowed by darkness, becoming Darth Vader. When he and Ahsoka next meet, it is in the heart of blackest night where there is no light and not even Ahsoka can reach the lone spark of light that is Anakin Skywalker, buried beneath the darkness of Darth Vader.

That one scene of them duelling alone on the outside of the Temple is amazing. The music and the action is all so riveting, it's as if for a moment, the epic duelling of the Clone Wars has returned as an echo from the past. For a moment, the lost traditions and practices of the Jedi Order are revived in Ahsoka and Vader.
