^^ LOL, yeah, and Palpatine stole the script from Lucas' back pocket and knew what he had to do to take over.

    Biggest mistake by the Council:

Not truly trying to figure out what the Force was trying to do by giving them the Chosen One at age 9, birthed immaculately, and found by Qui-Gon in the Outer Rim.

We've got Mace giving Anakin the Evil Eye at the first Council meeting, and Yoda always looking like should be put back on the first transport back to Tatooine.

    Some welcome.

Yoda asks, "How feel you...about your mother". Anakin felt close to her. Loved her. Attached to her. Sorry to use the A-word, but it fits. He has a relationship with her.

Maybe we shouldn't be asking parents to hand over their kids to be trained as Jedi at age 3 or 4.

Yoda and Mace could ask themselves: Why didn't the Force send the Chosen One to one of the Core Worlds, where we would have sensed him at an early age?

They should have been more open-minded towards Anakin

Mace not trying to get some backup when he goes after Palpatine. He just takes the three Jedi already on the gunship with him. Had he gone with a dozen or so they could've taken Palpatine down Anakin or no Anakin. For that matter he had to at least think there was a good chance they'd have to kill Palpatine. Why didn't he borrow some grenades from a clone in case things went very badly? Had he done that he'd been able to drop one and take himself, Anakin, and Palpatine out instead of losing the standoff against Anakin.

To Mace's credit, Fisto and the others were already boarded on the gunship. Mace was already preparing to go meet with the Chancellor to demand he surrender his emergency powers now that Grievous was dead.

Not to mention reviewing all Orders programmed into the Clone Army, for example Order 66. [face_hypnotized]

Even if the Jedi already made those connections, there was nothing they can do about it because their asses were already doomed the second PalpSidious became Supreme Chancellor. If they refused to fight in the Clone Wars and go after Palps, he will declare them traitors to the Republic and initiate Order 66 long before the events of ROTS took place and if they do fight, they'll still be killed off as the war commences.

Either way, the Jedi are screwed.

Qui-gon could have never taken Shmi with him for the same reason he had to win Anakin from Watto. All slaves have a chip in them and if the leave their master they explode. Anyway, Qui-gon did everything he could to free Shmi. Watto would never give up two slaves though. It all came down to the chance cube. "Blue: the boy. Red: his mother."

The fact that the Jedi know very little about politcis in general is illustrated when they ask Anakin to spy on Palpatine. There is obviosly a huge seperation between the branches of the Jedi Council and the Senate of the Republic. Both branches don't trust each other. However, they are both on the same side when it comes to fighting the Seperatists. The Jedi believe that's where all the evil lies.

I think that another huge mistake that the Council made was backhandedly asking Anakin to spy on the Chancellor. He's supposed to hold to such high standards imposed by the Jedi, and at the same time do the dirty work.

This one really brought him into a deep conflict. Spying on a friend that was also a sort of a fatherfigure. To be inofficially told to do something sneaky!

Sure, not only that, but they get poor ol' Obi-Wan to give him the news, so that the high and mighty Council do not gets their hands dirty with the request, especially after refusing Anakin the rank of Master.

One of the councils huge mistakes was giving Anakin the mission to protect Padme on Naboo. If the council hadn't done that, Anakin wouldn't have gotten closer to Padme and vice versa, therefore resulting in no wedding, resulting in no Dark-Side!
