Yanks still in talks for Santana.

I believe that this will get done now. The Yankees realize that Pettitte is only around for one more year, Clemens will now be history, and that they need a quality pitcher to get by the Red Sox.

lol at least you've already gotten into the "rebuilding process". I thought the Giants were going to be focused on that, but I guess they still are in love with over-the-hill players...

I really feel for you Oakland fans. Oakland is a Quadruple A team for the rest of the MLB. Billy Beane needs to understand that squeezing pennies doesn't create dollars.

Hey, just watch. In three seasons, the A's will...

do it again, as these young players won't pan out. :p

But, if it worked in Colorado, why not in Oakland?

Go Twins Go!!!! Now I can start thinking about spring training with Santana out of the way. Gomez is just what the Twins needed. Oliva will teach him to hit better and he'll be a legit lead off guy for years to come!

Lead off over Jose Reyes you say? Interesting.

Reyes wasn't available, Gomez has a lot of good tools. Twins have already locked up Mauer, Cuddyer and Morneau. Delmon Young looks like a great addition as well. Any money they have left over is going to pitching, some to lock up Nathan hopefully....

If the Mets can't get that extension for Santana done, the Twins will have won big time.

Who else thinks that the huge Santana signing was incredibly dangerous for the Mets? Sure, he could be a great pitcher for a few more years, but it's also extremely possible that he's already reached his peak and the Mets will get a few years of 'Top-5 in the Cy Young voting, but you're not sure how much of that is based on reputation'. Not-so-large guys who throw hard don't last deep into their thirties (e.g. Pedro Martinez, whose peak was higher than Santana's anyway), so they're taking a big chance.

Still, it was probably the right move. Next year he might be the difference between watching the World Series and winning it, and that's an opportunity champions take.

I'm not so sure. They gave up a very good prospect in Adam Jones, for a guy who has yet to pitch 200 innings in a season.

I'm not convinced Bedard is the savior yet either, or even a legit Ace pitcher. Two decent years don't put amoungst Baseball's top pitchers. But then Silva got 12 million from Seattle as well8-}.

This Mariners team won't make the playoffs, period.

    List of superior AL teams:

    LAA
    CLE
    DET
    NYY
    BOS

Erik Bedard improved the rotation, but crippled the outfield defense (Can you hear that? Jarod Washburn's ERA just shot up a full point), damaged the bullpen, and weakened the offense. One step forward, three gigantic steps back.

Seattle won't compete with LAA, and there's too many teams ahead of them to grab the wild card. PECTOA has Seattle finishing with 72 or so wins.

And yes, Bill Bavasi is a ****tard.
