Who remembers programs like Knight Rider, Street hawk, Wolf something (the helicopter), the program with the electronicy blue dude who could change shapes. The greatest american hero, Highwaymen with Jacko. Dukes of Hazard (ooh general lee) MacGyver (one of my all time favourites) The incredible Hulk, this is TV people... this is TV.

 

The helicopter one was called Airwolf and it was crap! I remember the program with the computer guy and I remember his sidekicks name it was 'Cursor' but I can't remember the programs name. Remember that Daisy Duke (or the Actress that played her) had her legs insured for a million dollars!
Yes TV has gone down hill over the years, we have twice as many channels but it has increased the crap TV exponentially as well. Not to say there are some good programs on TV now but its just different. Remember when after school would mean kids programs on every channel? Remember Ollie Olsen? 'Keep cool till after school!' lol
God it really makes you feel old when you start sounding like your parents!'what is this rubbish you are watching? Why in my day they knew how to make entertainment, etc etc'

Cheers Centuri, You don't no how many years i've been trying track down the name of that program - Automan. Everyone I've described it to goes ?????

Short lived TV show which debuted on Dec. 1983 till April 1984. Lasted 1 season (13 episodes). Link to AUTOMAN episode guide. A re-birth or copy (however you may call it) of TRON into your TV screen. Same producers as TRON but this time the adventure is outside the computer (TRON was inside the computer). The story is about a police computer expert/genius Walter Nebicher (Desi Arnaz Jr.) whose bored of desk work so he designed a crime-fighting video game/hologram which comes to life and proved to be more then his worthy partner in cracking the toughest of cases. Automan (Chuck Wagner's Official Website) was programmed by Walter Nebicher which first started as a game then became a full fledge super detective slash superhero. Who can forget the glowing blue costume, with the funky high heeled boots. Also his partner: The cool womanizing computer byte partner * "Cursor" who speaks in bleeps (computer language only understood by Automan). We cannot forget to mention the vehicles made by cursor to catch those baddies: "Autocar" sleek glowing Lamborghini which can weave in and out of traffic with ease ala the TRON light cycle Grid scene. Lastly the Autocopter and Autojet. Now for the remaining cast: Capt. Boyd (Gerald O'Loughlin) old school police captain who does not believe in computer aided police work and is constantly trying to bring Walter down. Next we have Lt. Jack Curtis (late Robert Lansing *RIP*) who works with Walter's computer knowledge & Automan's aided tips to catch the bad guys. Lastly Walter's girlfriend, the beautiful Officer Roxanne (Heather McNair) who believes in Walter and knows the secret of his video game crime fighter. Now the adventure begins...

Don't the years and programs just flash by! And the premise of some of the programs would just not work today eg. Three's Company! If someone produced aprogram like that now there would be law suits ripping through the gay community!
Automan was cool and I remember the effects to be brillant (same with Tron) you look at them now and they're crap!

The Smurfs were better than the Snorks, although I thought that Smurfette was a bit of a tease to old Hefty Smurf! And one thing always bothered me, if Gargamel created Smurfette then how the hell did all the other Smurfs arrive on the scene? She was the only female! Where the rest of the Smurfs gay? Was Smurfette a nymphomaniac? How come the rest of the Smurfs hadn't gone blind by the time Smurfette arrived?

 

OH and I used to live for Dungeons and Dragons too. Did they ever get back home????

 

The thing that pissed me about the D&D cartoon was that What Now never played them in order! Everytime an episode ended with a cliffhanger I'd tune in the next week and it would be an episode that had nothing to do with the previous one!

There were alot of those action vehicle type shows on around that era. Same with when SW became big, heaps of second rate Sci-Fi shows popped up trying to cash in on the success of SW, but couldn't really pull it off!

 

I liked Street hawk, that was cool. Knight rider was another of my favourites.
