Speculation [MOD-approved] What movie do you think they they will announce at the 40th Anniversary panel?

I don't think we're going to be getting a movie announcement at Celebration. If anything it'll probably be at D23, which I'm expecting to show off the Han Solo film a bit. But for the sake of the poll, I voted for Boba Fett. They were on the verge of announcing it two years ago at Celebration Anaheim before all the stuff with Josh Trank went down, and I don't believe they've canned it.

 

If they do, well done Lucasfilm keeping it very quiet.

The most exciting thing about a new film, for me, would be the director. Who have they wrangled in.
That's more exciting than the Title or the lead actors.

 

If anything they announce Kenobi as the next Star Wars story. Ewan's up for it and he's the right age, those circumstances won't last forever so I can definitely see them going with that over Boba Fett right now.
Really hope they do announce something, it would be a great way to kick off Celebration.

Old Republic I reckon they'll save. They can get much more out of that than a few one off Star Wars Story movies, I'm thinking (hoping) that will be the focus of the next saga once the Skywalker Saga wraps up with IX.

 

Do you think they'll show any Han Solo footage? Even just exclusively for the panel? Like the Rogue One clip (that got leaked) where it showed the Death Star in the sky of that jungle planet.

 

I was hopeful a few days ago, but now I've realized that this SWC will be 100 % focused on these three things and nothing else:

- The Last Jedi
- 40th Anniversary of ANH
- Tribute to Carrie Fisher

Info on the Han Solo movie will wait until D23, and if they're making a Kenobi film this will be announced no earlier than D23 aswell.

But as always, I hope I'm wrong about this!

I hoped I was wrong, but this is what I expected. The 40th anniversary panel was for commemorating the 40th anniversary of the series and celebrating its history, just as it said on the tin. There's also no way they're going to announce new movies at the TLJ panel; tomorrow is all about showing The Last Jedi for the first time. Either the next standalone film will be announced online on some random day, like the Han Solo movie was, or at D23.
