MS Update Mod Squad Update for April 9, 2008

This update was going to be dp4m's. He is now unable to do it, though he has not been sacked.

The MS Update has been completed in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.

Moderator Updates

? MASTERPRENN was welcomed as the new YJCC mod.

? dp4m stepped down as Manager in Lit, RPG & Minis.

? Grand_Admiral_Grant stepped down as Manager in YJCC.

? Lowbacca_1977 was promoted to Manager.

? s65horsey was promoted to Manager.

? Jedi_Dajuan welcomed as the new RPG & Minis mod.

? The new Lit mod will be announced soon.

? Discussion is proceeding for a new YJCC mod.


Other Updates

? The Pancakes & Waffles forum was created, went live, and then made inactive (read-only).

? A reminder was given to VIPs and above not to post in inactive forums (including P & W).

? Manager promotion times were discussed. For now it will remain the same, and not be tied in any way to any review process.

? There is ongoing discussion about the moderator review process.

? A new Category was created for Expanded Universe: Star Wars Television. The SSSW forum has been renamed "Live Action, Clone Wars & Classics".

? There was some discussion about new questions of what is considered canon. Here's an FYI from The2ndQuest:

Do we need another JCC mod?

 

It can't hurt coverage-wise. As we head toward summer there will be mods on holiday. If we select a new YJCC mod now that gives time for him or her to gain experience while there's a full mod contingent.

The need for a new mod and timeline was part of the discussion. While we don't have an emergency, it's generally felt that we will need the additional coverage in the coming months, as LAJ pointed out.

 

Heh. I'm quite sure everyone knows I'm not criticising Grant.

 

Congrats to all the mods who were promoted! A lot of activity in that department.

I await to see what the word will be on the Mod review process.

 

A new Category was created for Expanded Universe: Star Wars Television. The SSSW forum has been renamed "Live Action, Clone Wars & Classics".

This seems incredibly confusing as to what would go where. If I want to talk about SHWS I go to the former SSSW? And if Live Action and Clone Wars are in the former SSSW what is in the SW Television?

OK, the way it sounded was that there were now 2 forums to deal with Star Wars Television. But there isn't. OK, I get it. Moving along, moving along.

 

Yes, "Live Action, Clone Wars & Classics" is the single forum within the EU: SW Television category.

We renamed the forum and created a new category for it.

 

Nit-picky, but given the release schedules shouldn't CW be before the LA just for now at least? Not that it matters, but hey, gotta find something to complain about.

 

We're allowing for the possibility that Live Action would be split off in a while to its own forum. That was LACW&C would become LA and CW&C so it would work nicely.

 

We're most likely creating more forums in the Television category, but for the moment it's named what it is. It'll change as we go. Step one was the categories, step two was the initial name change (with new forums and name changes to come in the future) and step three is starting to prepare that forum for new content to come. We're slowly building it and make it ready for the end of the year.

 

Step four is where 506 wears a beanie and we all giggle.

 

We're mainly giggling because he doesn't know its a tea cosy and his hair is poking out the holes.

 

Given that that would include the Holiday Special, the Droids cartoon and the Ewoks cartoons and shows, shouldn't that be "Live Action, Clone Wars & (not-quite so) Classics"?

i think i've missed a major bit of YJCC hostory... why was the pancake/waffle place shut down?

 

The P & W forum was the April Fools' Day gag this year.

 

This is the 'official line'. The actual reason is that it proved too popular and MS boffins calculated it would consume 99% of all JC traffic by the year 2009.
