Mod Squad Update for June 5-11, 2003

Well, we may not catch everything, but as said, if you see something we havent dealt with, then let us know.

If none of us is online, then PM one or more of us and we will get it as soon as we see the PM. If its an urgent thing, then PM any mod, because any mod can deal with an emergency.

So far as 'mistakes' being made, I'd like to see some examples. Sometimes (read: often) its a judgement call as to what needs to be done. Different people might see the situation differently....what you call a mistake, others might not. But as always, if you see us make a mistake, then you are welcome to PM the mod that made said mistake and discuss it with him/her.

 

Also, please remember -- if there's something truly offensive, or something else you feel we HAVE to know, try PMing another Moderator from outside that Forum. They can also take care of it for you...

It's fairly simple. Lucasfilm requested that we don't allow direct quotes from the articles to be posted. We decided that it was in our best interest to comply.

Having mentioned that. I call for all mods to take a good look at "Let be known. I scored with the hottest chick on the JC" thread. Maybe then you will understand how things go unnoticed....

Anyways, I am here primarily to bring a new subject up:

Corrupt mods

Recently, a user by the name of Bob Skywalker has allegedly admitted he is a sock of a moderator.

Now I do doubt the veracity of that statement because I don't know any mod who is as bold as that guy. However, his farewell plea sounded very convincing that this he was telling the truth. So

Are there any corrupt mods in your ranks?

I do suggest all mods remain cautious from now on. This does not sound good at all.

I must say I do have a clue of who it might be. His composure seems very familiar. His name is also "Bob." - Hmm... Now where have I heard a similar name before.......

 

As far as I can tell, Bob_Skywalker isn't a moderator.

Here, I emphasized the important parts for you.

I am writing this to tell you the truth. I have lied to you. I know, I know, it?s like a mortal sin or something. I have allowed you to believe whatever you wanted to believe. And that main belief is that I am the sock of a moderator on these boards. By doing this, I have lied to you. I should have squelched the rumors when they first came out, and for that I apologize.

The statement is partially [!!!!!!!!!!!!111111!!!!!!!111!!!11!] true however, in that I AM a sock. And I was a very prominent poster in these forums before my switch to the alias Bob Skywalker. I will not tell you who I am for now.

I don't see the reason for any more JCC mods, if that's an issue here. It's been discussed, so I won't grace you with another post stating the same reasons, but I just thought I'd share my opinon.

OK, question--and if this has already been answered, just point me in the right direction and thwack me with your e-paddles...it's the middle of the night here and I'm an insomniac...

What constitutes an "emergency" that would justify PMing a moderator outside a forum? I always try to use the moderators within the forums whenever possible, and if they aren't online, I go to Sape or KW...however, what if no one is on? I don't want to pick on just one forum, but just as an example, the Fanfic forums...I like Amsie and Kit' and they're good mods, but they're both Aussie and when I'm posting, they're asleep (except for strange cases like now, when it's a normal time for them and an off-time for me ). So what would constitute an "emergency" in, say, the fanfic forum, which would warrant pulling in someone from, say, the movie forums, if the regular mods are unavailable?

 

It's something along the lines of major flaming going on, heavy profanity, trolling, and anything that obviously needs to be edited out immediately.
