Mod Squad Update for the week ending 11-17

Note: jedi-mind-trick compiled most of this, and the rest was done by others. I'm just posting this.

RidingMyCaroselOnYou took a couple days off, but made a triumphant return.

Welcomed YodaJeff - New AOTC Mod! Usual mod squad initiation proceeded. We are pleased to report that Jeff survived, and is recovering well.

Rogue1-and-a-half came on as the second active Amphitheatre moderator.

No "community" socks (socks that are shared by multiple users)

The JC Holiday Banner Contest officially kicks off this week. In the Collecting Forum banner contest, there was a tie. The vote was opened to forum regulars and foxbatkllr was the eventual winner. The fiercely competitive Amphitheater banner contest also wraps up this week.

Discussion of/voting on new AOTC and Amphitheater mods

The Film Music Hall
After a discussion in the Advisory Council, the discussion of the Film Music Hall was brought into the Mod Squad. The discussion has now come nearly to a close and the following points have emerged from the discussion:

- The Film Music Hall will stay
- The FMH will focus on Star Wars music only.
- Comparions between Star Wars scores and other film scores will be allowed.
- All community-related threads there (The Music Hall Tavern, for instance) will stay
- The only non Star Wars thread that will be allowed to stay is Sithman's Fellowship of the Rings music... Gosh, I love it!.
- Everything else goes to the Amphitheatre, since it would be non-SW music.

The Amphitheatre
RidingMyCaroselOnYou made a note to the Mod Squad about Amphitheatre Story Reviewers and asked for permission to allow users to be given the title "Amphitheatre Story Reviewer". These titles are given out to specified reviewers in the Writer's Lounge. Only 3 are allowed at a time and they will be rotated out monthly. These reviewers give everyone the fair and equal chance of having their work reviewed (as long as it is published in the Publisher's Desk, this giving everyone the input they deserve on what they've shown the Amphitheatre. The current Story Reviewers are solojones, JediPrincessKas and Ophelia_Summers. More information regarding story reviewers and how to become one for future terms can be located in this thread.

In late Amphitheatre news, the banner contest has ended. Expect a winner to be announced in the next Mod Squad Update .

Great question. We have essentially the same discussion going on in a thread in Mod Squad right now. There is not a definitive answer to give at the moment, but I'll be sure to update you as it becomes available.

One solution would be for the users of Flirtatious Sock to each make their personal Flirtatious Sock "clone";

a question about the community-socks: why?

 

Why are community socks not allowed all of a sudden? Did I miss an incident that happened with them?

 

it is becuase of possible PM trolling that might occur. Since the sock is shared, it could be problematic to figure out who did the trolling. This decision came from a sock that had its password in its sig. The difference about FS is that FS, and its clones and offshoots, don't have that. Also, FS has been a possitive influence on the JCC.

 

There are a few different reasons behind not allowing community socks. If the sock is used for spamming, flaming, harrassing, etc, who is responsible? All the people who have access to the sock? After all, if you let someone borrow your password and use your account, you are responsible for what they post.
