Jedi_Learner, Quixotic-Sith brought the user to our attention, and we're looking into everything. :)

I do hope Vertical isn't stepping down because of some internal coup in which Gandolf threatened to eat his children.

That reminds me of a W.C. Fields quote or three...

"I like children. If they're properly cooked. "
?Madam, there's no such thing as a tough child - if you parboil them first for seven hours, they always come out tender.?
(When asked whether he liked children) "Ah yes...boiled or fried."

Also, I'd like to inform the Mod squad that this thread contains information that may not be from a private forum.

I am also aware of tens of thousands of other threads containing information that may not be from a private forum as well as millions of posts.

Contact me for a link to a easily navigateable complete listing.

Hell, that's just on this site, rumor tells fo entire webpages devoted to information that may not be from private forums and the vast search engines which can find that questionable info for you.

    No, I'm not done yet.
I've also heard tell that entire *libraries* of information that might not be from private forums on the JC. Virtual seas of hardbound copies of data that could possibly not be from the MS or AC or Old folks home.

It's shocking to consider, I hope the Mods will do something about it soon. Before it's too late and peoples everywhere learn what might not be being discussed behind closed doors on the JC.

Jeffro, cool it. farraday, don't make it worse.

    nice update. :)

Moderators can't use the ban button as a way to force our views onto other people.

does that include some moderators' ridiculous views on this "spam" nonsense?

It's been over three weeks since the Reform evaluation thread in the JCC was closed. Why is this discussion still in the "early stages?"

It's not. But we've just recently drafted the new plan, and are currently killing the kinks. It's almost done. :)

Perhaps a bit of discussion could be devoted toward actually enforcing this one if you have the time.

EDIT: BTW, this would be a great time to go by the public notice of bannings we talked about in the AC. :)

    Concerning this thread.

I am very curious as to why there were bannings after dp4m had already warned people. I am also curious as to why there are posts being deleted when I was under the impression that deleting is a last resort.

The posts were removed because they were unacceptable and do not belong here.

Any users that were banned as a result of making unacceptable posts can get more information on their case through the appropriate channel.

For people new to the forum, it helps establish the mods as people with personalities.

    Mods have personalities? :p

posting of ?lock this? type posts

I stated my opinion in the other thread, but I might as well state it here.

If the thread is legit or an honest mistake that's one thing...by all means discipline users who do this sort of thing.

But if a thread is outright trolling, don't penalize people for smart-ass comments or [face_plain] 's. These things have been going on awhile (it's tradition in PSA where I came from) and are perfectly harmless IMHO.

Don't take our [face_plain] and sarcasm powers away for combating trolls.

    Mods have personalities?

I?m currently running ModBot 2.5, which allows me to emulate a personality with nearly 75% accuracy. The rumored 3.0 upgrade will supposedly allow me to understand humor, sarcasm, and pity, but I see no pressing need for the upgrade.

I'm getting tired of all this [face_plain] discrimination.

Other than that, though, nice update. Sorry to see Sapient probed, but if it had to happen, it had to happen.

Thank you for the weekly update MrSapient.

It is much better to hear straight from the horses mouth than to read gossip and hearsay on other websites forums and aim logs [face_plain]

They shouldn't really be banning people for posting "spam" in YJCC unless: a) they have a previous record of a lot of spamming, and/or b) they're so obviously spamming (i.e. six new threads in six minutes) that action should be taken.

Although with spam, especially in Community, warnings are the best route to take. But some people simply refuse to listen.
