May I ask why? Or do they have a note next to them saying "Sorry, it was an accident."? It makes no sense to me why you would keep something on someone's record, especially if they were innocent.

Is this thread for admins, managers and administators only? Just checking.

There are two main ways to add to user notes. The first is to just bring up the users profile and click on ?View/Update Admin Notes.? It appears right below the user ID and right above the user name, but it?s only visible to mods. The other way to add to user notes is via a banning. Whenever someone is banned, we have to provide a reason. That reason is added the user notes.

EDIT: YodaJeff: your user notes are clear.

an accidental banning is the same as a regualr banning, except it was an accident. The same process is done in both cases. In case of a mistake, notes can be cleared.

Wouldn't it make sense to clear out a note if it was made during an "accidental banning"?

EDIT: Okay, thanks. In case my note from the other night hasn't been cleared yet, I would appreciate it if it was cleared away. Thanks.

    EDIT 2: Thanks again. :)

it's not like there's a monthly usernotes mass clearing. I've cleared my notes a couple times b/c, as said before, mods like to spam usernotes, and mine were getting too full. Other mods have cleared their notes b/c of this. And some notes, like YodaJeff's, were cleared b/c the banning was accidental.

"an accidental banning is the same as a regualr banning, except it was an accident."

Now that's a bureaucratic statement if ever I heard one.

sorry, said it wrong. I meant the process is the same. Hit the button, put in the reason, ban the user. There's no option that says "Accidenal Banning: y/n". So the process is the same for both purposeful and accidental bannings, it's just that one is unbanned faster than the other.

Then you missed the underlying point. The point was that an accidental banning has the same effect (specifically - auto-updating the usernotes with whatever is entered into the ban reason field) as a regular ban.
