They're giving me all the fish I can eat. Of course, I?m allergic to fish, so I?m starting to get suspicious as to their motives.

Shush you. You're going to make them think the entire lit forum is made up of mean people.

    Aren't we though?

They did that, and I know of a few people who PM'd suggestions to the mods.

This is a regular occurrance in Lit, from my experience.

Has anything happened in the past week and a half that is worth updating us on?

A regular user was banned for responding to a bait by a mod -- that was edited out by another mod after they were called on it, BTW -- and the mod got nothing, but I guess that's really not worth reporting.

Nope, it wasn't. Nor is any ban a regular user receives.

    We don't know that.

    Discipline usually occurs via PM.

It's in the best interest of everyone if personal issues such as bans and warnings are handled among the administration the person receiving them. They shouldn't be published for all to see because they have no need to be.

I've flip-flopped on this issue at various times, but I also think it's debatable whether the regular user's banning should have been publicized.

On that note, will there be an official update this week, or was it just a quiet one?

LOL. What's even funnier is that I think you actually believe that.

Talking about a user's bans has never been made public before, so why would it be now. Oh, and trying to draw sympathy for a banned friend doesn't count as a reason.

I think a lot of people would be embarrassesd if reasons for bans were suddenly made "public."

Or if we go one step further, and start posting the user's administrative log and showing their past history, too.

    [checks admin action log]

I'm responsible for 4.8% of all admin actions in the past month. And half of my toys don't even show up on the log. [face_mischief]

    blah blah blah

no one is talking about mandatory announcing of all bans. just that users can bring up their bans (IF they want to) in a public setting if they think they've been wronged.

then mods would, like, have to be fair and stuff, instead of the current proceedure whereby they can ban anyone they want for whatever reason they want and no one can ever question it, (beyond individual PMs, which result in nothing).

and you mods call yourselves american.
