[mods] Smiley Question

I've been looking at people signatures, and I've been wondering. When you edit the signatures, they show up in your post at the bottom. And I've seen mods and VIP's who put what they do or whatever they want underneath their name.

Well I wonder could you mods put a smiley there as well? Or next to your name?

 

Are you talking about right under their name where a title would be, or in the actual post?

 

Smileys in the signature will work (as you can see). We don't put them next to names though.

If you go through a long a complicated process of re-hosting the IGN smiley than eventually you can put it in your title, see picture below, but it's impractical because the code to do it takes up the allotted space for your actual title.

All smileys go through zerosleep and they are directly connected to the IGN boards on the internal server. It's just one of those few things we cannot control because the database code affects not only us, but the IGN boards.

And no, not even mods can put HTML in their signature.

 

why does it have to be re-hosted?

 

Out of curiosity, can't you just use the <img src= tag? I had always thought the titles used HTML.

 

The title field has a character limit and with the tags the URL was too long and got cut off. If you re-host it using something like tinyurl, it fits.

edit: but the limit is 30, so <img src="http://media.ign.com/boardfaces/11.gif"> fits. I just hope nobody needs the admin action log anytime soon

 

That's true. I just remembered that before I shortened the URL, I just tried tacking it on the end of my usual title.

 

I'm giving every regular user a pumpkin as a title this Halloween. All five of them.
