I've heard that Panaka from TPM eventually becomes a Moff for the Empire! Is this true? If so where is it mentioned?

Yep, it's true. Our favorite pessamist becomes a Moff. His gift to Palpatine was mentioned in the ITW: Star Wars Trilogy. It's not a joke.

All it has is a comment about a statue in the Emperor's quarters on the Death Star II:

"Gift from long-time ally and supporter, Moff Panaka."

    Nothing too exciting.

    lol

It is the same Panaka you see in the movie. I believe there is another reference somewhere else that states him becoming a Moff.

Actualy, I think it was a good idea. It shows that just because someone was a 'hero' at one point, doesn't mean that they'll be with the 'heros' later.

I read somewhere (one of the ROTS-related books) that Panaka was the one who told Palpatine that Anakin and Padme were married. [face_thinking] [face_shame_on_you]

Panaka: "...Coupled with the destruction of the Droid Control Ship and the defeat of the Federation's droid armies, freed the planet Naboo from the blockade. Panaka himself remained loyal to the leaders of Naboo, and remained on the planet to supervise the protection for Queen Jamillia. Later, after the Clone Wars and the advent of Emperor Palpatine's New Order, it was believed that Panaka became a political figure, accepting the title and position of Moff while remaining loyal to Palpatine. It was also believed that it was Panaka who provided Palpatine with information on the secret marriage of Padme' and Anakin Skywalker."

Yes, it's entirely true. There's nothing surprising out there, Naboo is one of the strongest Loyalist worlds out there. It's so loyal to the Empire that the Emperor maintained only token military forces on the planet. Queen Kylantha herself is a personal admirer of the Galactic Emperor.

I wonder if Panaka was a pessamist even through the Rebellion era...

"Those fighters could be a signifigant threat to the new Death Star"
"The Rebels are far better equipped than we have come to expect"

    :D
