Moments in PT that feel like the OT

Let me clarify my title here. I'm looking for moments in the PT that for whatever reason take you back to the OT. Let me explain mine. In AOTC, there is a scene were R2 is recieving a message from Obi Wan "Anakin, do you copy?..." It's just a shot of R2 playing with the dials and Obi Wan's crackly voice and some music. That takes be back the the OT feel for some reason, kinda like the Chewie fixing 3PO scene.

 

Anakin walking off towards the speeder while the force theme plays has the same affect on me that Luke and the binary sunset did in ANH.

 

In the younglings scene in ATOC, the humorous Yoda ("lost a planet, Master Obi-Wan has....") seems like the early ESB Yoda.

The deleted "Jedi Temple Analysis Room" scene had, in its coloring and design, an OT ring to me. It loooked and "felt" like an interior on Bespin. It brought back that old OT feeling.

Oh, and a bit off the point, the 20th Century Fox fanfare always does it for me. I wish the old Lucasfilm, Ltd. logo was still used right after.

 

A young person (Luke/Anakin) meets up with a old man that turns out to be a Jedi Knight (Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon), but tragically loses this father figure to a Sith Lord (Vader/Maul) at the end of the film.

 

At the end of AOTC, Sidious saying "Everything is going as planned".

I agree ST! Back on Tatooine, a Skywalker looking moodily over the horizon...it was pure Star Wars. The end with Palpatine et al looking overly balcony as mini-star destroyers took off was another one.

 

Anakin in TPM "someday I'm gonna fly away from this place" -vs- Luke in ANH "I'm never gonna get out of here!" Both have the desire to get off Tatooine and make something of their lives.

Owen to Anakin in AOTC, Beru to Luke in ANH both asking "Where are you going?" as they hastily get up from the dinner table.

The whole thing at the Lars homestead, especially seeing the garage set and Anakin standing outside the hovel at sunset really took me back. Plus, Ani blowing up the droid control ship, Obi Wan saying "Why do I get the feeling you're going to be the death of me?" (chills) and Obi Wan chopping off Zam's hand.

 

PalpatineAntikristos, I totally agree with you! The scene with Palpatine and Anakin brought back the memories of the Emporer and Darth Vader talking in ROTJ.

 

The Dooku/Palpatine meeting at the end of AOTC screamed OT magic.

The Droid Factory to me really had OT-ish moments, and was the turning point in the saga, where real adventure got put on the front burners instead of in the background as in TPM.

When the Queen's starship blasts its way past the blockade around Naboo to set off on the journey in TPM, there was some real throwbacks to the OT.

 

1. First assassination attempt in AotC when the camera looks up at a shocked Senator Amidala.

2. Coruscant chase scene

3. Outlander Club

4. The Droid Factory.

5. Queen Amidala telling Palpatine she is returning to Naboo in TPM.

Dooku's talk to Obi-Wan:

"Join me, and together we will destroy the Sith!"

reminded me of Vader to Luke:

"Join me, and together will will rule the galaxy as father and son!"

Isn't it interesting how Anakin is optimistic about leaving Tatooine, yet things end up horribly wrong for him and the galaxy, and Luke doesn't think he'll ever leave Tatooine yet he ends up helping to save the galaxy from the Dark Side?

 

When I went to see AOTC, I just waited and waited for "I've got a bad feeling about this."

Also, C3PO losing his head. I almost expected R2D2 to put it on backwards.

 

I was looking forward to Padme using her comlink to call R2-D2 to close down the machines (I wonder if he picked up the Death Star plans while he was at it?) like Luke did in ANH.

 

The opening credits and intro.

Padme looking at Corde in shock; almost looks like Leia right before the Death Star blows up Alderaan. Very chilling stuff.

 

Films use to end up in very similar way:

TPM - ANH A triumph
AOTC - ESB A couple facing distance
SWIII - ROTJ A pyre? A victory celebration?

 

I've always felt like a kid when the opening titles roll!

remined of when luke says to Vader he'll never join him.

Also for a brief moment, in ATOC Padme says that she might be able to find a diplomatic solution when there on Geonosis, and Anakin retorts with "i've given up trying to argue with you" it reminded me of the Han / Leia constant banter in the OT.

I was a little kid when I watched SW (aka ANH), and since then everytime I see and hear the 20th Century Fox fanfare I expect to see the Star Wars yellow logo fly next!

To me, a lot of Qui Jonn scenes remind me of old Ben and of Yoda from OT.

"We shall be patient"

"when you learn to calm yourself you'll be able to hear them too"

"keep your mind in the now and here where they belong"

The Lars homestead is also a great tie-in.

Reminded me of him sneaking around inside the Death Star in Star Wars.
