The Clone Wars: Overlords - When The Father actually touched a lightsaber. That scene is so shocking to me, and really sold me on the power of the Ones.

Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut - When they killed the Doctor.

    Scandal
There were many moments I loved before this, but I think this was really my hook into show, the flash backs always get me.

    House
This was what made me realize this wasn't going to just be the usual medical show.

    ER
I was already way hooked into this show long before this moment, but was one of the biggest shocks in TV for me. My parents still make fun of me for how upset I was.

For B5, I'd have to go with season 2's The Coming of Shadows. Pre season 3, any show with Morden was excellent, but this was the episode that shifted the show from an episodic series, to one full of arcs

That really and truly shocked me. I was on an internet hiatus at the time and so had no access to spoilers, so seeing that scene, especially so early in the episode floored me. (I also had a laugh that Moffat had this episode air (first - run) on Easter Saturday. Genius Moffat, pure genius.)

There's a scene in the pilot for the rebooted Battlestar Galactica, when Roslin and Lee Adama are escorting a bunch of ships that lack FTL drives, and a group of Cylons arrive. There's a long, drawn-out Dramatic Countdown indicating when the FTL-capable ships will be able to escape, which just so happened to coincide with the time the amount of time the Cylons would be in striking range of the ships unable to escape. There's even a wide shot, suggesting that the Galactica would arrive http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JustInTime]Just In the Nick of Time to make a heroic http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GunshipRescue]Gunship Rescue...

Both the S1 and S2 finales of Spartacus both shocked me with awesome and locked me in.

"Closer than Sisters" of Penny Dreadful pulled me in, what an amazing backstory. The S1 finale reaffirmed my affection.

This is kind of the tipping point that began to make me become critical of Moffat. Excellent episode but the resolve at the end of the season for it fell far short of the promise established in the S6 opener. Rumour has it that Julie Gardner and Steven Moffat had a heated (and apparently public) falling out over the writing of the show that year. It's not entirely hard to blame her, especially with how S7 went.

    Agreed!

But I was already hooked on the show from the reveal of Boomer at the beginning.

Really, no other season finale of BSG felt as shocking to me as the first one did.

I agree. I would've never expected Bob Dylan to be a time traveller. Great twist there.

    Oh, season, not series.

Speaking of things that 'confimed' me to be a fan...

Doctor Who - The Big Bang

I was already a Doctor Who fan and I was watching S5, but for a lot of that season, I was still comparing Matt Smith's Eleven, to David Tennant's Ten. This moment in particular changed that:

The speech by Eleven to little Amelia/Amy was (as I've talked about in the Doctor Who thread) pretty much the moment Matt became The Doctor to me. The wistfulness and soft regret (not the anger we were greeted with with Ten's departure), plus the look and essance that Matt's direct predecessors (I'm talking about Eccleston and Tennant,), couldn't quite capture - That of an old man's ancient soul trapped in a young man's body. For me it shaped him as the Doctor and allowed me to go back and look at S5 again with that perspective in mind and see the Eleventh Doctor, distinct and unique like all of them, and not simply Matt playing echoes of Tennant's Doctor.

Yeah, I remember watching that and thinking at points "Holy ****! This is a TV show?" because Battlestar is just so well made.

Season One of "The Good Place" on Netflix. What ought to be a pedestrian sitcom gunning for a mid season cancel becomes increasingly creepy and disturbing with the most polished and frightening season closer a network comedy has ever delivered. For anyone dumb enough to believe in an afterlife, this is the afterlife they deserve.

Arrow - The only time I've ever "cried" over a TV show or film.

    When Damien kills Laurel.

    Game of Thrones - Everything.
