Just so long as noone atemps to make a FULL scale model, I will sleep easy.

FYI: if someone built an Imperial Star Destroier model out of aluminum, it would be so heavy that the North american Contentinal Shelf would sink one inch.

(This is one inch further than it did with the completion of the Hoover dam.)

If a REAL Imp. Star Destroyer were to land on the earth, the weight of the ship on the planet's surface would deform the Contentinal plate and could crack it, forming a new fault line.

Can't you tell I had a SW fan for a physics Professor?

Have you ever stopped to actaully imagine what a SD would look like in real life? It would be mind boggling to build a ship that big. Heck right now even our international space station is visible from ground and its jsut an itty bitty thing.

No doubt about it, it would be huge. I would have to do some math to back this up, but I'm willing to bet that that thig would do a number on the tidal conditions if it cam into earth orbit.

    For comparison:

Correlian Corvette (Blockade runner) 150 meters in length

    Mon Cal Cruiser 1200 meters

    Imperial Star Destroyer 1600 meters

Super Star Destroyer 8 kilometers - there were only 4 of them made of which the Executor was the first. Though some sources site as many as twelve of these bing built. All were destroyed except for I think two after the New Republic was formed. :)

And just think, that 8 km ship was taken down by a 15ft A-wing. The bigger they are the harder they fall. I didn't remember any other Super-S's besides Executor and Luystuia(sp), what were the others?
