It may not be the most practical or fiscally sound plan, but providing education for many, funded by the extremely wealthy who have advantages in wealth generation that most do not, does not seem like an evil plan.

Agreed. Jedi take over far too much of Star Wars.

Having just seen Blade Runner 2049, I can confidently say that there is little chance TLJ will top it. What a film. Also kind of eye-opening to compare Harrison Ford's acting in it to TFA. You can tell which movie he did solely for the paycheck and which he did because it was of at least some interest.

That being said, one clear way it reflects a film trend set by the Disney Star Wars era:
that Rogue One CGI-ing of actors is clearly here to stay in genre films.

Ford wasn't phoning it in Blade Runner? Not what I would have expected.

I'm so psyched to see this. My only disappointment is I can only see it once for the first time.

(No producers that is not an invitation to make 3 more versions.)

Not even close. Not that he was bad in TFA, but the depth he shows in Blade Runner was hugely beyond it.

I was so set on seeing this opening night that I raced back from work (I teach late on Thursdays), picked up my girlfriend, went to the closest movie theater... and they were having projector problems, so raced two towns over to get there in the nick of time. Well worth the stress.

As to the three more versions, Ridley Scott has already said he has the James Cameron Avatar treatment in mind with four possibly sequels planned. As for that, no actual spoilers for the movie, but during it,
I couldn't help but feel like Scott gave some input to leave things open for a sequel. There was nothing in it that felt like there were big chunks unexplained, but at the same time, it explores a much wider slice of the world than the original movie did, and some of the stuff explored definitely seems like Scott was interested in doing Blade Runner 3 about it. I really hope this is a case where Scott ignores his impulse to turn this into another Alien franchise.

On that note, I would love to see Tywin Lannister as a Grand Moff, and Jamie as one of Palpatine's royal guard.

(I have to admit I have flip-flopped a bit on Cersei - fancy star wars dress, imperial officer uniform, or royal guardsmen herself...amusing to imagine Cersi and Jamie as the guards that Palpatine dismissed when Vader and Luke were there, and they were too distracted to notice when things turned bad.)

Was that due to way the character was pitched to Ford, and the opinion he formed of the respective franchises as a result? I think TFA is so much more explicit in its intent not to be philosophically inquisitive - whereas Blade Runner has that motive weaved into it in a way that is difficult to ignore.

    I'd watch it.

(While we're on this subject, I really wish someone would do an anime intro for the NJO)

I recall the gif you're referring to but it wasn't my handiwork. Alas.

    I'm thinking way too small.

I wish LFL would order a full anime adaptation of the NJO.

    Don't.

She's a double usurper, how dare you.

Missandei can wear an imperial advisor hat. She is much better and also advises the legitimate sovereign.

Honestly, anyone can rock the Sim Aloo hat. It's easily the least strange-looking out of the Advisors' looks.
