    Tonight's Episode Title - Don't Forget MORE GLUE !!!!

    Our episode began with going over the progress Jim has done on his leg pieces as well as some AWESOME Improvements. It can be said that the more we work with alternative methods than what was written in the instruction booklets, the more we find Velcro to be an Evil Demon in which we try not to use too much of . . .

    Sizing and brainstorming took place this evening and the creation of some elastic shims in the back of Jim's Thigh pieces for comfort and flexibility. We've found that Plummer's Goop has been a godsend for us the only problem is we didn't have enough to finish the elastic shims. So the day was won by an empty tube of glue leaving us to have our First IMPERIAL LABOR DAY !!!!!

    Monday will be our day to really get our noses to the grindstone and get Jim's kit complete as well as my final alterrations to my Sandtrooper kit . . .

    Tune in folks for more from the MONSTER CLONING FACILITY !!!!!!!!

    Tonight's Episode - SPUR OF THE MOMENT !!!

    Jim and myself weren't too sure if Imperial Labor Day would happen but it got up and running with us getting ALOT done !!!

    From attaching snaps for the shoulder bell assembly to more gluing. We got Jim's suspenders sized up to him and attached the snaps on where the shoulder bells connect, and we glued the codpiece together. After we went out and grabbed some more supplies (BTW- Plumber's Goop is the Holy Grail - Velcro REEKS !!!) and we made a visit to the local Taco Cabana, we returned and started looking at what we have left. We did run in to a small snag with the thigh pieces but it was quickly remedied and we are back on course. Production on the belt has begun, which leaves us with the belt to be done, the thighs to be glued and have straps glued on them and the shin pieces to be velcroed. OH YEAH we also did some photo ops !!!!

    One Season of Monster Cloning Facility is about to end and another one is about to begin . . .

    Pictures should possibly be available for posting tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled to the MCF !!!!

    MTFFBWY !!!!

    John, thanks for all your great help. It was truely amazing how much hard work we got done today. Its actually looking like stormy armor now...not just a pile of misc. white plastic. I took a look at the pics we took and I think the armor looks great. I'll email them to you tomorrow from my office. Thanks again. I can't wait till the armor is finished.

    Thank you for the kind words Chancellor Lisa it is much appreciated :)

    And now, tonight's episode: The end is near . . .

    We are coming in to the final stretch of this season of MCF folks . . .

    We did some resizing to some straps and some painting to mask some areas as well. While I glued snaps into Jim's ab and back plates to accomodate some elastic straps to give his armor a more enclosed look, Jim started work on his belt and thermal detonator. We also figured a better way to anchor his thigh plates which I may incorporate for my armor :)

    All that's left now is to glue the sniper knee plate and and the thigh belt and full assembly of the belt and Jim is COMPLETE !!!

    This season may almost be over MCF viewers but worry not for we have our buddy Jason awaiting to make his way down the MCF assembly line . . .

    Stay tuned for the Season finale of MCF and possibly MORE PICS !!!!!!!!

    First off I want to thank my brothers of the 501st for giving me the inspiration and help along the way (my Brothers Jared, Buck, and CLIFF !!!!)

    I also want to thank my buddy Richie for giving me some insight and desire to work on these things :)

    And I want to thank all my people here in the SA FanForce (Lisa, Cassy, Rita, Marselles, Dan, Rob, Matt and Mark, Chris, Milt, James, Henry and ofcourse my new brothers in arms Jim and Jason) for being patient with me in displaying what stuff I have been working. I'm looking forward to the 20th and I think we are gonna have a blast this Halloween !!!

    Season Finale of MCF is coming soon !!!

    John, thanks for all of your help and time. Its greatly appreciated. I too look forward to the 20th and Halloween as well as future 501st events our local group can initiate and join in. Hard to believe that box of white plastic actually can look half way decent with a lot of hard work and patience. Now if we can help get Jason and anyone else outfitted it will be even much more fun trooping in SA. Only a few more things left to do to my armor and its finished.

    BTW the folding stock for my E-11 came in today and I quickly modified my blaster for a more authentic look. Gone are the windshield wipers....lol...hello true E-11 (Sterling) folding stock. Now the blaster looks like it should. I'll take pics tomorrow and email it to you.

    Lisa, thanks for the compliments. Both John and I have worked long and hard to get our armor where it is in the pics. But its been great fun...and continues to be. You know these things are works in progress. I doubt there will be a point at which we won't want to do this or try that on our armor.

    Anyway, though we haven't yet met....its been difficult to make the previous meetings as the times conficted with other events, John has told me enough about the meetings to feel as if I was there. I look forward to meeting up on the 20th. I know John wants us to bring our armor and it sounds like fun.

    Jason, how goes the armor assembly? Let me know if you get some time during the week that you would like to come over to my office and work on it if you would like some additional help. I still have your painted helmet pieces - they are safe and look great.

    I'm almost finished with my armor, just a few things left to do. Mainly finish the belt and a bit of triming for movement. I can't wait till its finished.

    Jim, its been pretty hectic the last couple weeks because of school and have a huge test next week. Right now the only time I can work on it is on the weekends cause I work the late shift during the week. Let me know what's best for you. I really want to get it completed by the end of this month.

    Previously on Monster Cloning Facility - we began this season with turning pieces similar to these >

    [image=http://members.aol.com/TD7012/parts1.jpg]

    Into something like this >

    [image=http://members.aol.com/TD7012/jim4.jpg]

    We've worked through all the hot glue and the Plummer's goop that gave us dain bramage at times

    [image=http://members.aol.com/TD7012/bucketwrk1.jpg]

    [image=http://members.aol.com/TD7012/bucketwrk2.jpg]

    We worked through the heated debates on whether velcro has some uses or not and found some new ways to make things work using ideas from a female Royal Guard

    [image=http://members.aol.com/TD7012/kim1.jpg]

    [image=http://members.aol.com/TD7012/kim2.jpg]

    Which brought us another SA area 501st member, Jim's lady Kim

    [image=http://members.aol.com/TD7012/jimnkim1.jpg]

    In all, we've had a blast (no pun intended) and we look forward in Trooping with our brothers and sisters of the 501st as well as showing our support for our group, the San Antonio FanForce . . .

    See you soon at a Convention or Halloween gathering near you !!!!

    Wow! I am impressed with all of the photos and play by play you guys have posted. My name is Jess and I am in Albuquerque. I purchased a set of armor over 1 month ago and I have yet to receive it. But that has not stopped me from thinking about the process on putting it together! I am hoping I can call on your expert help in putting the armor together! As far as I can tell...there is one other person here in Albuquerque that has a set of armor....she goes by the name of LadyAnakinSkywalker here on the board. She has had it for over a year and has yet to assemble 1 piece of it! I am hoping to help her get her armor together too! Then we will try to start our own outpost here! Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Hello and thanks for all the kind words. John and I have worked many hours to get to this point with my armor (which sat in a box for nearly a year). I know John and I would be glad to help out in any way we can. Its a great feeling to finally get that box of white ABS plastic parts turned into something resembling a Stormtrooper.

    Hey Jess, on my Sandtrooper armor, I went for a suttle paint job to resemble more closer to the movie. If you plan to weather your armor let me know, there are some tutorials out there that can help you. If you plan to be permanently dirty. I can recommend some paints that did the job on mine :)
