Good grief, I would hope so.

Probably not. Since the likelihood of this happening is about zero, I was mostly-tongue-in-cheek. But even in the remote chance it happened, if it wasn't as good as the originals, we'd still have the originals.

p.s. I do like the use of the OST cover art. But not enough to buy this set.

I don't have much doubt that the prequel scores will be released in a complete form eventually, but seriously, RotS is only 2 years old. Releases like TPM:UE and the LotR sets are the exception, not the rule. It took 10 years after RotJ to get expanded releases of the original trilogy, and another 4 after that to get them complete (and even then, that was a tie in with the theatrical re-releases). It took 14 years for E.T. to get a substantial expansion, and 21 for Close Encounters. Raiders took 13 years.

In lots of ways there's never been a better time to be a film music fan. Specialist labels are releasing fantastic stuff all the time, and this never used to happen. We all just need a bit more patience when it comes to the bigger Williams stuff. :)

... Temple of Doom, 23 years and counting...

You're probably right, which, no offense, is a problem. Look at the latest re-re-re-re-who-knows-re-release of the OT. They didn't sell well, so Lucasfilm put off the boxed set in confusion. What will this put off?

..Put off the box set? The box set was never officially confirmed or for that matter, given a release date.

So, the 30th anniversary music release is this. Too bad about the lack of PT score expansion. But I can never have too many editions of the Star Wars score, for archival purposes, so I'll probably get it anyway.

You know, I may actually get this considering I like the artwork and my old RCA SE's are scratched and the jewel cases are all broken.

Don't CDs and DVDs just get scratches on them after heavy use? I swear I take extremely good care of my DVDs (my friends and family think to the point of obsession), but the ones I watch the most all have small scratches. Granted, they don't cause any playback problems, but it still annoys me to no end. I've never searched or asked anybody about this, but does anyone else experience this with their CDs/DVDs?

Well sure, I've had two CDs that I've had to replace due to scratches in the 19 years I've been buying CDs. In general I am careful with them. I never leave them out of their cases in stacks or sitting face up on a bookshelf or anything. I always grab them by the edges. And hell, now thanks to mp3s / iTunes / iPod / etc I never touch my actual CDs anymore. Music in my room is on my computer. Music in the living room is mostly my iPod in a dock for my receiver. Music in my bathroom is my iPod in a little stereo unit. Music while mobile is also iPod. Music in my car is almost always burned CDs.

These days I buy a new CD, put it into my G4 and import the tracks into iTunes. Then the CD goes on the shelf and I barely ever touch it again.

I am quite happy that most of my CD's are in such good condition because like everyone else, my music listening is 90% mp3 player. I do treat myself to a listen on the home dvd system with the CD's now and then, because even at 190kbs, listening through earphones just doesn't compare. Hopefully these CD's will have some sort of audio quality improvement, to make it seem like there is some reason for making them other than 30th anniversary thumb-twiddling.

I'm planning to never buy another cd or dvd ever again by the end of next year, personally. All-digital for me, thanks.

...I'll let you guys know how this works out. :p

As do I (obsessively so), but these things are 10 years old, have been through about 4 moves, and weren't particularly durable to begin with.

Good for you. You're the most anal person alive.

These are also the only CDs I own in this condition and it's really through no fault of my own. **** happens.

Same with mine. But I still don't think I'll fork over the cash if there isn't an improvement on the sound quality of ROTJ and if they haven't added Lapti Nek, the original ewok song and the lost Sail barge music.

Geez. Have you guys seen the tracks on the Corelian Edition, the so-called "greatest hits" cd?

    1. Star Wars Main Title and The Arrival at Naboo
    2. The Flag Parade
    3. Qui-Gon's Noble End
    4. Jango's Escape
    5. Yoda And The Younglings
    6. General Grievous
    7. Anakin's Dark Deeds
    8. Imperial Attack
    9. Ben Kenobi's Death/Tie Fighter Attack (Medley)
    10. Yoda and the Force
    11. The Clash of Lightsabers
    12. Sail Barge Assault
    13. End Title from Star Wars Episode VI

As far as I'm concerned, it would be next to impossible to get the highlights from all six films onto one CD, but how much thought did they actually put into this selection? It's terrible.

    Two, actually.

    1. Star Wars Main Title and The Arrival at Naboo
    2. The Flag Parade
    3. Qui-Gon's Noble End
    4. Jango's Escape
    5. Yoda And The Younglings
    6. General Grievous
    7. Anakin's Dark Deeds
    8. Imperial Attack
    9. Ben Kenobi's Death/Tie Fighter Attack (Medley)
    10. Yoda and the Force
    11. The Clash of Lightsabers

    12. Sail Barge Assault
    13. End Title from Star Wars Episode VI

I like that they didn't just throw all the concert suites together and it looks like they at least tried to get most of the major themes in there, but this still isn't quite a greatest hits befitting the saga.
