You didn't "take" Barbican. I gave it to you on a plate. I can't believe you actually went for it though. Decidedly amateur, and frankly quite disappointing. I really did expect better from you. [face_not_talking]

You've set me up along the Bakerloo line now which is never a good idea, especially at this level. Tut tut.

Onwards and upwards to Regent's Park

No, I let you think you were giving it to me on a plate, and I'm letting you think right now that you have a tactical advantage because it plays into my hands.

I'm taking Sheperd's Bush, and if you can't work out where I'm going from there then you shouldn't be playing with the big boys.

You can't just take a triple junction station, unless you have previously taken two double junction stations and at least one special counter station. Of course you can take a tripe junction if you pick up the gold bonus card while passing through a station, or the blue chip when taking two victoria line stations in sucession.

Has anyone given you the rule book ? It used to be at http://www.morningtoncresent.co.uk

And that made perfect sense to me.

I thought you just had to say the next station along.

From my understanding the game is (to a degree) all made up. You pick a station (within a near bracket to where you were previously) and then make up some crappy reason why you've gone there.

The funnier or more random the better.

I'm probably way off the mark but thats my feeble understanding of it.

I don't believe it, you have read the yuletide variation carefully haven't you?!

I'm invoking the "Magic Sleigh Ride" option and taking Paddington

    You silly, silly boy.

I'd expect better from a mod Jairen - that's just weak - you have such limited vision.

    Hang on a minute

    "Yuletide Convention

    Paragraph 4, section 7

Should a player invoke Dicken's Gambit whilst lying in wait, the next player may advance 5 stations without prejudice"

    That takes me to...

    Mornington Crescent!!!!! [face_dancing]

Now now Malkie, I understand that it was a devious move but it will make it all the sweeter to beat him next time! :D

Well, in fairness, and in christmas spirit I'll help the newbies out with a link

    http://www.isihac.co.uk/games/mcvariations/index.html

Read through the rules, and the transcript of a sample game then I'm sure you'll pick it up. Site also contains a list of variations, which isn't complete, but covers most of the ones we use.

So, to roll another game over I'll pull the standard easy beginning move, and take Oxford Circus.

Sorry to all those who think I shouldn't "give the game away" by linking to the official rules, and the help books available at WHSmiths etc

I take it this is the Blunkett variant then (seeing as you didn't specify and we're playing blind)

actually no, I was going for the coventry ruling - which is when the game is playing in coventry - ie you've been sent to coventry.

    hope that makes sense ;)
