There's only 1 master trainer per skill who can get that skill up to 100. The enchanter one is a major pain because he's a xenophoic ashlander in a cavern, so the only way to get him to train you is to levitate behind him so he doesn't see you and surprise him by talking to him. After you're done training, since it takes two hours, your levitation wears off and you fall. You'll want to fall off the cliff as opposed to landing next to him cause then he'll notice you and attack. As your falling you can usually get in 2 or 3 more trainings on your way down. I recommend you have 100 wisdom and an enchanted levitation item. The base attribute problem seems to only relate to training by someone as opposed to raising it yourself. I'll tell you that he's in an enchanted building on the northwest coast. And you'll know it's enchanted once the door disappears after you enter. His name is something like Quarmaran or Quwaramna.

Anyone get the boots of blinding speed? Those puppies rock! A trip from Balmorra to Vivec takes less than 60 seconds running :p .

I am at level 3 now I just stand around and shoot fireballs till I level up. Quick question though where is Hla Oad? It said it is southwest of Balmora, but I don't see it on the map.

It's surrounded by swamp and it's on the southwest coast. It's a fishing village. I'd reccommend leveling up in mulitple skills. I always tended to get better levels up that way. I once got to get x5 in 3 seperate catagories from sharing the wealth.

Once you're able to cast 100% resist magica you have, have to get the boots of blinding speed.

It's in the southwest part of the Balmora map? I am level 4 right now. My main income is stealing stuff.

Tenor what can I do with those gems? I have a 60000$ one and a 2800$ I got them from Galbedir's desk.

Use them to enchant (you just can't use the girl you stole it from). See my post on the previous page I dubbed enchanting 101. I recommend that 60k gem for a "cast when strikes" on a good sword. 60k isn't that much anyway.

Can I take it to an enchanter in the same guild? Enchanting is one of my minor skills. Guess I will have to figure it out. I will read your post. So 60,000 isn't alot for the gem, or it isn't alot in the game period? Is it not powerful or something?

I just wanted to start out by saying that the Island is called Vvardenfell. Its definately the ultimate rpg!

Right now my character is level 69 and no one can touch me. I have 290 thousand gold right now and my armor and sword are worth another 100k. Im also the head of the theves guild and am a master theif. My mage powers are also very nasty!

The patch came out yesterday so go get it!

Damn! I just got to level 5 and only have 2k. Who can teach me the Mark and Recall spell? Everyone I visited so far doesn't have it.

I just got to Ald'ruhn. I ransacked the guard towers and got those sets of armor then went and sold it all to The Creeper.

Let me clarify. 60k is alot and it's almost the most powerful gem you can get but you won't have enough items to sell it to creeper and when you do you'll want to be using that gem to enchant your sword. Just trust me; with so few grand soul gems, you want that for enchantment

"Can I take it to an enchanter in the same guild"
Umm no. In fact she attacks me any time I try to use her as an enchanter so I just use one of the other ones.

Use the guild guides to go to all the guilds and pick out the spells you want. I've got almost every spell available, except for the burden spells, drain fatigue and bound spells cause they're useless for my character.

As an odd occurance I had 100 opinion from all guild members (from becoming a warlock) and they all dropped to 85. Curious because I'm not poisoned or diseased, and my personality is 133 (I got a nice little helmet :) ). Not that I really care. I'm going for guild master soon enough and I'll rule them with an iron fist [face_devil] . Again make a spell with 100 dispell magic and help out the traveler on the road west out of Caldera to get the boots of blinding speed. You just have to see the effects to believe it.

I'd also recommend a universal unlock spell. I bought a cheap "open" spell, and then went to have a spell made. If the person likes you, for about 460 bucks, you can buy a 100-100 unlock spell (touch only, target is extra). I haven't seen a lock above 100 yet, and when you're at the bottom of the ocean looking for treasure, or stealing from a dangerous foe, you don't want to wait around picking locks (assuming you're better at alteration than security). Thanks for the tip on the boots Tenor, I'll have to buy dispel and try that out. I have noticed something quirky, and maybe it's just coincidence, but it seems like I am more likely to be successful at enchanting if I don't rename the object. I have about a 95 percent fail rate if I rename it, and only about a 50 percent fail rate if I don't. It's... odd.

Also, I have a curious problem and I don't think it has anything to do with the plot. Potential spoilers ahead. I did a few of the Ahnassi quests (Is that her name? She's the feline character that shares cares and gifts) until I got to the point where she offered me the key to her house, and told me that she would be there if not at the inn. She told me to go get some flowers, but before I did I went to the house. Seeing the chests and containers as a good place to store my stuff, I cast Mark in the upstairs room where she was at the time. Initially, the spell failed and I tried again. Now when I return, she's not in either location. Is this a plot thing? Or is it a glitch that erased her. Hopefully it's not that important to my game, since I didn't discover her absence until quite a lot had taken place.

When you say you cast Mark is that part of the recall spell? That is what my friend called it last night: Mark and recall. I finally got recall and tried to use it thinking that the " Mark" didn't matter. I guess I answered my own question with that then.

In the Mages guild I am an Evoker! In the Theives guild I am a Footpad!. I guess that is not bad for not even knowing what I was doing last night! ;) I am at level 6 and my destruction is at 67! I just walk around in my new house and shoot spark until it goes up. I have very easily gotten addicted to this game.

Tenor I know I can't get off of this Grand Soul Gem but if I start enchanting stuff with it, will it lose power and value? Or will it gain?

Ok guys, sorry for just busting in on this conversation, but I was wondering--how would you rate this game? It looks pretty cool, and since I'll be getting a new computer sometime next month I'll probably get it.

If you like RPG's, I'd rate it in the 90s. It's incredibly immersive and seems like it can last for hundreds of hours. And that's just with one character... play another character of a different class with different abilities and there's a whole lot more stuff to uncover.

Some people don't seem to like it because it's not a hardcore splatter-em-on-the-wall game like Halo (which I also love). My analogy is that it's kind of like the way some people get bored by baseball because it's not balls-out action like a basketball game. Apples and papayas, to be sure, but it all depends on whether or not you dig games that rely more on exploration, investigation, and quests than on non-stop battle.

Also, remember that RPGs like Morrowind typically require a good 10 hours or so of play before they really begin to compel you on their own. Up to that point, I DID find myself compelled by the game, but more because I could tell it had a lot of potential. Sort of the way a baseball game can be compelling because of ITS potential for classic, bottom-of-the-ninth, grand-slam-for-the-win moments.

(Can I get arrested for making this many sports analogies in a row? Hell, I rarely even follow sports till playoff time anyway, so I dunno what the heck I'M hollerin' about!) ;)

You only get one enchantment per soulgem. It doesn't matter if you succede or fail, it'll break. But a properly used soulgem is worth 1000x more than the actual value of it. Example, I've got several constant effect items. I've used the trick of starting with a golden saint and then switching the gem at the end to a common soul gem that has enough soul power, to save that ever so rare golden saint soulgem. I've got strength of 167 intelligence of 143, speed of 245 (thank you boots of blinding speed). I can also breath underwater and see in the dark. Added with my speed, I would have been the envy of Joque Coustoe. And those are just my constant effect items. Enchanting isn't cheap but there's alot of money to be had out there. My deadric dai-katana alone is worth 120,000. If you're really strapped for cash get your sneak and security up, mark in front of creeper and go check out the Telavanni vaults in Vivec. Before I started enchanting I had well over 300K after that little excursion.

Edit: I think this game appeals more to those with a sense of curiousity adventure and imagination. If that describes you in the least I think you'll like or love this game. If you're not curious what's over there, or what happens when I do this, or what happens when I eat this mushroom ;) you won't have any fun.

The adventureous side will let you know the joy of heading into the unknown and finding an forboding cave entrance and charging in, devil may care. Unlike daggerfall the dungeons aren't something you dread going to with 1000's of them that look exactly the same. They're all individually crafted and make you want to see what's in there, because it's there for a reason.

This game also rewards your imagination. If you don't have a good imagination you don't have any business playing a nonlinear game. Granted some are better put together than others (this being one of the best, while daggerfall was one of the worst). It rewards you for thinking outside the box. It lets you do nearly anything (within the MSRP ratings of course) you want. You want to pick up that fork? Go ahead. Sneak behind that guard and cold cock him? Your burden to bare. You want to fly all the time? Sure.

The games not perfect (this is bethseda we're talking about here, but at least you don't fall into nothingness), but it's one of the most detailed and well thought out games I've seen.

I'd rank it very high in my all time list, but I've always been a huge fan of the side quests in games. Take FF XIII for example. There's the part where they kidnap the hero's girlfriend and are about to execute her. Of course, I responded to this by... going on side quests. This game is all about the side quests. And you can be whatever kind of character you want. My character for instance is Mr Blur The Lines. Sometimes I do the nice thing, like I'll lie to a guild and say I killed someone, and other times I'll walk into the room and start hacking. When I'm in a sporting mood, and to avoid hefty fines, I'll taunt people into attacking me. Free slaves, or use them as target practice. Steal the keys or kill the guy and take the keys. There are many guilds to join, and various houses to join (I assume you can only join one because everyone in Redoran House and Telvanni House hates me). You can pick flowers, mushrooms and glass and make a potion (why you would drink something with glass in it is another question). If there's not a magic weapon you like, you can potentially create your own like my Soul Reaver, even glows purple (quite by accident). If you replay games, you can replay this one dozens of times. I have fun both in my own game, and in helping my wife with hers. Her big priority is saving all the slaves she can, and she's an exploration freak to boot, so there are a lot of places for her to go. I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes free roaming RPGs. It's even more open than Fallout I would say. Except... you can't become a porn star or pimp out your wife.

Okay, I have the boots of blinding speed, and dispel magic 100% touch. Do I need to have dispel magic 100% self? And do I only need to cast it once, or every time I put on the boots?

Cast dispell then put on the boots. You have to do this every time you put on the boots, but you have no reason to take them off. Happy gaming. :)

Are you sure you don't mean remove curse? According to the book, dispel doesn't work on constant effect items or curses. If it is remove curse, is it touch or self? I would assume you aim at the boots and cast remove curse using touch. Dispel isn't working for me at all.

No problem. I discovered that while reading through the posts on one of the websites. I'll probably need dispel magic sometime along the lines anyway, and really I think even with the cost of my dispel touch spell, the boots are well worth it. I could only afford resist magic 100% for a second, so I have to cast, wait for the icon, and then slip on the boots. Works. I haven't found a good way to make money yet since I haven't found that Creepers guy... Most money I've had is 5k, and I used it on raising enchant, saved a lot of money that way. Thanks for pointing out the boots. By the way, I don't have levitate, but do you come down soft, or does it drop you in a hurry? If you drop like a rock, I was wondering if levitate target worked, where you could cast it on someone, they get lifted up, the spell wears off and they fall and take damage. I'm twisted, but I thought if it works... it would be great.

Does Creeper have a problem with Orcish armor? He buys everything else at value price but this set of armor. It is 2,800$ and he offers me 622$... Anybody no anything about that? I jacked the armor out of the armor shop in Balmora.

Where is Creeper again? I haven't found him, but then again, I haven't travelled the entire island yet (not even close despite being level 22). By the way, thanks for the tip on capturing a golden saint and switching the gem after it says "constant effect." I haven't gotten my enchant to succeed, but I have tried it (always saved first). I must raise my enchanting more.

I noticed something last night while my wife was playing. There was a closed door (a door within a building, so it was a door that actually opens, not a door that you open and it leads to a "loading interior" bar) and we could see part of the monster through it. The monster was far tougher than my wife's character, so I tried launching some fireballs at it. Sure enough, the critter died. This also works on people behind gates. Technically it is probably a glitch, but realistically if a guy is dumb enough to lean on a wooden door being hit with fireballs, he's going to die... probably with a lot of hot splinters in him. I discovered when running away from a monster and slamming the door shut between us. There are just some places a level four character shouldn't go (though by the time we stopped playing, she was level nine).
