Episode 6 online! Raiden takes the stage in this one...with a different take on the character (played by Sanctuary's Ryan Robbins as the Thunder God).
I thought the costumes were decent. Fairly period accurate as far as that can go on an obviously limited budget. The only thing that stuck out to me was Sub-Zero/Bi-Han's face mask. Seemed a little bit too modern to fit in there. But Scorpion's worked for me. Also, none of those actors could speak Japanese well at all.
Mreh. Scorpion's costume just didn't fit very well - it looked like a costume on him, which a costume, of course, never should. I dunno what it was, it just looked cheap, and if embellishing outside the realm of period accuracy the costume of a magic superninja is what it takes...I say go for it. In fact, I had fewer issues with Sub Zero's.
Searching around, apparently they are holding off on episode 9 so that they can debut it at Comic Con in July.
Yes, Here is Episode 8: Scorpion and Sub Zero (Part 2) . I missed it being released so didn't post the link before.
Quan Chi. He was the new Big Bad in Mortal Kombat 4 (he also had a pretty large role in the MK TV series), supposed to be one of the most powerful sorcerers in the MK universe.
I don't have MK4, but I thought Shinnok was the chief antagonist in the game, with Quan Chi as his right-hand man. Quan Chi worked with Shang and Shao before, as their ally from the Netherrealm. He once teamed with Tsung in Deadly Alliance, where they murdered Kahn's clone, believing him to be the real one.
I don't think so- I didn't follow the Mk storyline for 4 and beyond very closely, but a quick search around it seems that, while he's about equal to Kahn & Tsung, he's more in control of the Netherrealm alongside Shinnok, instead of Outland. He's also involved with Scorpion's backstory, much as we saw in this episode. I also just now stumbled across an interesting tidbit: there was a deleted alternate ending to MK Annholation that had Shinnok conversing with Quan Chi in the Netherrealm, to set up a 3rd film. Recently went over the articles of MK4, Shinnok and Quan Chi at the Mortal Kombat wiki. There it said that Shinnok, a former Elder God and the endboss of MK4, rules the Netherrealm after he and Quan overthrew the previous ruler. In addition, Shinnok boosted Quan's powers for his help.
Yeah, that was a really good one (though I kinda wish they could accomplish the cyborg effects without being all CGI- they are guys in suits after all). However, it would have been nice to have the overall plot for the season have some kind of wrap-up tag to bring all these standalones together somehow.
My one gripe: "Cyrax" and "Sektor" are total robot names. They shouldn't have been their names before.
Hmmm I wasnt all that into that last epi. I didnt like the CG element in there. I agree that the season should have came to a close instead of being all scattered about unlinked with each other.
