OK. I just don't think that you can call card-playing a sport. Sports are athletic events, and I just don't think that poker fits the bill. Now, what do you mean by sporting event? Do you mean something like the Olympics?

2008 NBA Finals. They all said "America Wants It", but they figured out that not everyone wanted to see it after Game 2 or 3.

Championship games that are complete blowouts. Or 7-game championship series that end up as 4-game sweeps.

Under that heading, take your pick :p

I agree. It wasn't even good basketball most of the time.

For me it is the Battle of the Sexes Tennis match.

Red Sox win the WS in 2004.

Actually, thats the one I had in mind when writing my above post. Sure, the Sox won after 86 years, big deal... but the Series itself wasn't particularly good.

Actually, that goes for most recent WS.

2003 was good. Also, I find it hard to believe that Boston fans acutually boo their team if they don't win 10 games in a row. You've won the WS twice in three years; and you STILL act like you're waiting for a championship to occur? That's just plain annoying.

Prior to the last four series, the WS was very good. Yanks-Marlins, Angels-Giants, Yanks-D'Backs (one of the greatest ever), Marlins-Indians (a great series, with a tragic, tragic ending), Yanks-Braves (the dramatic game three), Yanks-Indians ... lots of very good series and two-three great ones since the strike ...

I remember Game 7 of the Angels/Giants WS, and doing the wave in front of my TV screen. That was a great series!

I have to agree with the 'Red Sox/Yankees' series being over-rated. The hype about a 3-game series in April or May is just over the top at this point.

Put me down for the Super Bowl as well as any of the major horse races. Oh, and the Boston Marathon. Don't know how it's perceived elsewhere, but here in MA, the whole d*mn state pretty much shuts down for this thing because they feel the need to run it on a Monday instead of a weekend.

Dempsey v. Gibbons on July 4, 1923. It was a dud of a fight and ruined Shelby, Montana and it's overenthusiastic investors. Hard to be more overrated.
