What is the most philosophical game you have ever played?

As of now, mine is Xenogears.

You answered for me, it would have to be Xenogears. That game made me feel like I was playing a Bible, know what I mean? Deep story, a little confusing too, I never actually finished the game so it didn't all come together for me.

If it's not Xenogears, then it would be another RPG by Squaresoft/Square-Enix.

Although KOTOR II: Sith Lords was pretty deep too. Kreia is a very complex character, she made me think seriously about the will and nature of the force, and Atton had some unique and interesting views about the jedi...

Agreed, in fact... anything in the Xeno line is a good mind bender.

I havent played Xenogears, but I agree with KOTOR 2 and I also think Metal Gear Solid 2Sons of Liberty is a good one.

In relation to Star Wars, KOTOR 2 by far. I don't believe you can get any more philosophical than that.

That scene when you finally find Ravel and have your conversation with her, not to mention your final scenes with Deionarra, are legitimate Chill Scenes as well.

Bioware is creating a 360 trilogy called Mass Effect. That may promise to be very philosophical in many aspects and present many moral concepts.

Alpha Centauri. Easily the most thought-provoking game I've ever played.

While not exactly philosophical, Deus Ex made me think a lot about moral choices. Unlike KotOR it wasn't black and white. It wasn't help this person or kill him for fun. It was so deep and thought provoking. In KotOR the only grey area was how to treat Wookiee slavers.

The only thing in kotor that I didnt think was black and white was the cave in Kotor 2. I sided with my friends over kreia and got DS points for it, still dont understand that one...

    Are you sure?

    KRELIAN
"Sophia said, if you just have faith, the path to what you hope for will open.
But look at reality. God didn't answer our prayers...
Is that because we didn't have faith?
Even if we didn't have faith, Sophia did. Why did she have to be sacrificed?
Is God dead...? Is he just not there...? Maybe God never even existed to begin with!"

    (Flashback)

    SOPHIA
"Faith in God... Do not look for it on the outside... For it is something one must build from within oneself..."

    (Returns to present)

    KRELIAN
"Ha, ha, ha, ha... I see... That's it...
If God doesn't exist in our world, then... I will create God with my own hands!"

Fahrenheit was quite good, actually. But KOTOR 2 beats em all.

I LOVED building a character around non-lethal force in Deus Ex. That was easily the most challenging part of it; using the baton and stun darts from the dartgun only.

There are places where you HAVE to kill people, but that's few and far between...
