Challenge Mother's Day Challenge - Open for discussion!

Since we're getting close to this year's Mother's Day, I thought it would be appropriate to have a challenge complimenting the international holiday. So here you have it, the official Mother's Day Challenge.

There's just [color=firebrick][b]ONE[/b][/color] simple [color=firebrick][b]RULE[/b][/color]:
The story [i]has[/i] to portray the relationship between a mother and a child.

The timeframe (also AU is accepted), characters and genre are for you to deside as is the length of the 'fic.

The final date to post the 'fics on the right board and a link to them in this thread is [b]Sunday May 11th[/b]. The timelimit is at 11.59pm boardtime.

[b]Please[/b] put [i]"Mother's Day Challenge"[/i] into the thread title of your stories, to help others know what the 'fics have been written in relation to.

This is a friendly challenge, the main reason for which is simply to get more mother/child stories out there for us to read. Thus there are no actual prizes, but we could have a vote at the end to find out which of the challenge replies is your favourite. Let me know what you think.

I will update this post with the links to the stories as they come, so you'll have an index right on the first page.

Ok, I've a question... can the story be part of a story already started?

 

I'm happy to see there's some interest.

I don't mind it being a part of something bigger. Just as long as it clearly depicts a mother/child relationship. But when you post the link to the story, please add the page and preferably also the chapter of the scene(/s) to the information.
Other than that, I think it's all good.

But yes, you can submit more than one story. The more the merrier, I think!

I have an idea for this, but it would have to be slightly AU due to who the mother and child are. As long as it meets the mother/child relationship requirement, can it be slightly AU?

 

The stories can be set in AU. Only the mother/child relationship rule has to be met. Pretty much everything else is up to you.
I'm glad to hear you have an idea growing, I can't wait to get to read them!

It sounds interesting. I don't have the time to do a story to give the challenge justice, but I'll be interested in reading what others come up with.

Here is my first entry to the Mother's Day challenge: Side by Side, Year 5, Month 8. It's part of a dual diary.

Here's another response. For my final chapter in A Twin Suns Romance, II: Barren, I portrayed the relationship between Beru and her mother... though Beru is full grown and engaged to Owen in this story. Our children are always our 'CHILD', no matter how old they are.

 

I wrote a response to this called "Attachments." It's an AU with Anakin and Shmi.
